Hello everyone. We've got to get to Baron. Well, there's no port in Damcyan, we can't get to Fabul, but there is a port near Kaipo. I guess we need to go backwards through the Underground Waterway.
We start in Underground Lake B1, and head up to B2. There's not much here, but there is a path in the water that wasn't there last time we were here...
This takes us to Behind the Falls 1F. A secret passage in the southwest leads to a Bronze Tail, but besides from that, it's a very simple path up two floors leading us to the Underground Falls. Another Bronze Tail up here.
We head back to the overworld and reach the north Waterway Entrance. We find an Iron Sword for one of the guards near the entrance.
We continue through B2 and B3, picking up some items we'll never use and some Gil along the way. We then reach the southern part of B2, and reach the Save Point there.
Harley starts lagging behind the rest of us,
Edward: What's the matter?
Harley: N-nothing... Nothing at all, my lord.
Edward: Your color does not look so well.
Harley: I am just a bit tired... That's all.
Edward: There's no need to overwork yourself. We'll turn back.
Not while I'm in charge of this party, buddy, we're almost at Kaipo.
Harley: No! I just need a moment's rest. That will more than suffice.
Edward: Let's make camp here for now.
We rest.
Edward: Felling better?
Harley: ...Yes, my lord.
Edward: We will arrive in Kaipo shortly. Just hold on a little longer.
We continue along to the south Waterway Entrance. Down here, we head behind the waterfall, finding, among other things, a Chain Whip. There's another Bronze Tail near the rocks by the waterfall too.
Near the entrance we find a Silver Breastplate and a Mini'd person.
Hey there! I'm a collector, and I love to collect rare tails! I'll trade you one silver tail for five bronze tails, or one gold tail for five silver tails!
This is the rare tail for this tale. We've currently got 9 Bronze Tails, thanks to some rare drops, so we grab one Silver Tail. We then head out.
Well, leads head for Kaipo. The second we get there, Harley starts acting... odd.
Edward: Harley?
She faints.
Edward: Harley!
We take her to a house, which just so happens to be the exact same house where Rosa was found when she fell ill in FFIV.
Harley: Your... Your Highnesss...
Man: That's desert fever, no doubt about it.
That's a reused plot device, no doubt about it.
Man: It happens to people on long journeys all the time. First they get fatigued, then the fever hits the second they set foot on sand.
Edward: Then... we must get a Sand Pearl...
Man: Oh, you know about those? I've only heard about 'em from my grandfather's old tales. There's a monster known as an antlion that lives in a cave near Mount Hobs. Supposedly you can get Sand Pearls when it lays eggs. I've also heard that antlions only lay eggs during a full moon.
Edward: I'll leave right now to bring one back. Would you be able to watch her until then?
Man: Of course! But you'd better give up on the idea of leaving today. Get some rest first. We can't have you getting sick, too!
Edward: That's true...
That night, Edward heads out near Anna and Tellah's graves.
Edward: Anna... Tellah... It's been quite a while, hasn't it?
He starts playing, and Anna appears.
Edward: Anna...
Anna: ...
Edward: Anna... Why must you be so sad?
Anna: ...
She disappears.
Edward: Anna...!? (What are you trying to tell me, Anna?)
He starts to walk away.
???: Can't even tell that, you spoony bard?
I know that insult! Tellah appears behind Edward.
Edward: Tellah!
Tellah: Anna wants you to live, Edward.
Edward: What? What do you mean? I'm as alive as I've ever been.
Tellah: Hahaha!
Edward: ?
Tellah: Take a good, hard look at yourself and then tell me whether that's really true.
Edward: What...?
Tellah: You know what to do.
Tellah vanishes.
Edward: Tellah... What could I be... missing...?
The next day, back at that house...
Harley: Nnngh... Mm...
Edward: Harley...
Man: The fever's getting worse. We need that Sand Pearl as soon as possible!
Edward: I will get it no matter what it takes! Keep an eye on her for me, please.
Harley: High... ness... I'm sorry... This... is all my fault...
Edward: Don't be ridiculous. Just stay in bed for me. I'll bring back the medicine you need.
Harley: This wouldn't have happened... if I hadn't forced you to take me...
Man: Enough talking. You need to conserve your strength.
Harley: Please... Be careful...
Edward: Harley! (The Antlion's Den is east of Damcyan Castle.)
Royal Guard: You are travelling to the Antlion's Den, yes?
Edward: ...Yes.
Royal Guard: Let us accompany you, Your Highness!
Edward: ...No. I need you to stay here with Harley.
What?
Royal Guard: But, my lord...
Edward: Please. I'll be all right.
No you won't!
Royal Guard: ...Yes, Your Highness!
What is wrong with you people! It's your duty to protect Edward!
Edward: (This is my own problem... one that I'll fix myself.)
We buy new stuff for Edward; a Dark Harp, Silver Breastplate and Rune Armlet. Then we leave. Next time, we cope with the consequences of Edward's stupidity.
