Well, it's time to face the Accursed here. Let's see how it stands up to Ein and company.

With that in mind, we head to stage 3-8: The Apex.

There's literally nothing on the first screen, so we head east and encounter a wyrm and a harpy. The wyrm is weak to ice, and the harpy is weak to fire. As such, the ideal team is Serene and Cierra, who perform about as well as you'd expect.

After the battle, Cierra suddenly becomes quite worried about Gateau (remember?), and a feather appears. I examine the feather, and Lina, being the impulsive child she is, starts demanding it. I promptly ask Lina and Fia to pick it up, and they fall into the last area. The fall covers them in mud (though it obviously doesn't show up in-game), setting up the first bath scene in a manner most contrived and stupid. As I said, I'll be skipping that one for various reasons.

Anyway, Fia and Lina still got the feather (called a "Paradise Plume"), along with 2000 points.

With that, there's nothing else here but the Accursed, so let's get to that. While we're on our way, Cierra decides that she's here to stay, because the demon problem is much worse than she thought and having a walking gamebreaker on our side should help out quite a bit.

At the very top of the area, we meet Lindwurm, the third Accursed. It promptly determines that Ein is from Asgard, and laughs at Ein's statement that his goal is to protect Riviera. After a bit more dialogue, it's fight time.

Ein: The enemy is strong. Be careful!

Boss Battle: Lindwurm

  • HP: 2000
  • Strength: 54
  • Magic: 38
  • Agility: 15
  • Vitality: 20
  • Resists ice, non-elemental attacks, and holy
  • Weak to lightning and fire

(I'm listing weaknesses and resistances in order of how weak/resistant the boss is. The greatest weakness/resistance is first, then the second-greatest, and so on.)

The strategy here involves bringing Lina and Cierra, buffing them with the Power Wrist and Mage Ring, and tearing Linda to bits. His Break Out, Crystal Breath, is the most threatening attack in the fight, but all of his attacks have absurd cooldown times on them. As such, Linda really isn't much of a threat, and should go down quickly.

Results:

  • Time to victory: 89
  • Final attack level: 3
  • Score for victory: 14300

My S-rank reward is the Tempest Bow, which Lina can use to do a lightning attack with a power of 607 against the next enemy to move. Fia, meanwhile, does four attacks against random targets with it, each attack having a power of 405. It replaces my Mage Ring, which served me well, though its time here was short.

After Lindwurm dies, the team starts congratulating each other, and Serene notices something in a nearby hole. First, though, my chapter results:

  • Turns taken: 102 (Rank A)
  • Items left: 15 (Rank A)
  • Pleased: 2 (Rank B)
  • Score: 446700
  • Starting TP next chapter: 5

Cierra worries that we might be too late for Gateau, but we suddenly hear a cat ahead. Cierra, hearing this, follows the noise, and if you guessed that it was Gateau, you're right.

More importantly, Gateau is actually Rose, though she's unable to speak at present. She can, however, talk to Ein telepathically. Cierra claims to have found her in rather poor condition and given her some medicine, but Rose tells a different story: She was taking a nap, and the "medicine" Cierra gave her killed her ability to speak. Unfortunately for Rose and fortunately for the rest of us, Cierra has no clue how long the medicine will last.

After a bit more explanation, we're done here and as such, we return to Elendia.

Ein encountered the witch Cierra at Nelde.

With her help, they were able to navigate through the ruins and seal away the Accursed.

After sealing away the Accursed, Ein was reunited with his Familiar, Rose, but still lacks the means to contact Hector or Ledah.

On that note, we're back in town, so I'm going to stop here. Join me next time, when I completely ignore what the game is trying to get me to do!
