Hiatus over. Last time we found out the importance of why you always have ice resistance in a place called the ICE cave and why you don't mess with rank 1 demons. However, let's get back to the basics, in other words, no gimmicky race, class, or deity. We're going to be the classic Tokien-esque elf and do nothing but shoot arrows all day long.

Anyway, High Elves, while being all around good, are exceptionally slow at leveling and suck at being all around good in the early to mid game. They do have a few stand out strengths, though, namely the fact that they can fight exceptionally well with long and short blades and have top notch skills with a bow. Magic is also all around great, though not to the extent that the deep elf goes.

The hunter also happens to be the bow oriented class. You get a bow, some arrows, a dagger, and leather armor. Aside from that, it's all about spending all day making everything else your target. At high skill levels, bows are incredibly accurate, fast, and powerful. Unlike magic, the other traditional long range option, they never have any range limit, meaning if you can see it, you can shoot it. Combine this with some enchanted arrows you eventually find and you can be shooting flaming bolts of death at will.

Just aim and fire. See? Straight forward. Anyway, a few pointers about arrows, you do have a limited supply and they do break, so it is sometimes a better option to go dagger it out. This pretty much phases out as soon as centuars start showing up though since all they have is bows and arrows, allowing you to pick and choose as you like.

Just assume the next first few floors are just the Green Arrow shooting everything that comes into view.

Ugh... gnolls. For the record, shooting an arrow at close range carries no penalties or benefits, so shooting him in the face from two inches away is a totally valid tactic... but gnolls are still quite strong in the early game. Just going to run upstairs with this guy and stick him full of arrows up there.

Anyway, gnolls were just a nuisance. This guy, on the other hand... Am I feeling lucky? No, I'm not feeling lucky, back up the stairs.

Um... DERP.

Anyway, in honor of making my characters look more like the characters they actually are, I'm making the Green Arrow actually green! But seriously, if you want to edit your character's appearance, just hit "-". It's relatively straight forward if you want to look a certain way instead of looking like the random wardrobe of whatever your character just so happened to pick up off the ground. In fact, I might be doing this more often for the various characters I make.

Oh, right, Ijyb. Meh, eat arrow.

Oh come on Blork, can't I safely get to the Temple? Gotta go get indoctrinated into a religion. Okay, made it in. Meet Okawaru, the patron god of Dwarf Fighters. Okawaru, while boring, is multitudes of practical for the typical physical fighter. He has a single ability he gives you but it is great and with time, will begin gifting you with runed or artifact weapons. It's a beautiful thing, trust me.

Anyway, one berserk potion and dead Blork, later, we've got his scimitar and it's time to start training Green Arrow's other main weapon, the sword.

...okay, so not quite in character. Maybe I should have named him Archer? Erm, Archer of Fate Stay Night? Whatever, High Elves have a great +2 aptitude in long blades to compliment their +3 aptitude in bows, so we'll have mastery over range and melee.

Hey guys, see this? This is when you simply walk away. Just walk in the other direction.

Anyway, meet Heroism, Okawaru's granted ability. Sounds pretty dull right? WRONG! It increases your attack speed, attack damage, dodging ability, ability to wear armor, basically, if it's a skill that isn't magic related, it gets improved. You become heroic for a while, basically, and it's AWESOME.

That reminds me, I forgot to mention what Oka likes. Basically kill stuff. He's the god of knights and heroes, so you've got to kill stuff. Then step on the corpse and pray. Straight forward enough, right?

Not today. Got to go level up some more before I'm ready for that.

As you read the scroll labeled KUORYQ YGUDD, it crumbles to dust.

You have gained Spellcasting skill!

Shouldn't that be "the Spellcasting skill"? Anyway, non-casters, want to learn magic? Just read some scrolls. You'll eventually learn to start casting that way. Once you have a single level in spell casting, you can start to memorize and cast spells, if you have a book. I don't, so onwards anyway.

That's a fancy lookin' robe you got there. +2 robe that gives +3 strength and +4 intelligence. This will be useful later when Green Arrow starts using some magic.

This is a scroll of acquirement!

[a] Weapon [b] Armour [c] Jewellery [d] Book

[e] Staff [f] Staff [g] Miscellaneous [h] Food [i] Gold

WOOT WOOT! this is a super rare scroll, exceedingly so. It basically grants you a random item from the category of your choice. We're short on books, so we're going to wish for a book. Please be a beginner one...

You read about Armour. The manual looks somewhat more worn.

KISS MY ASS CRAWL!

Anyway, good time to explain manuals. Manuals basically train a skill of yours by reading it, in this case, armour. It'll be useful much later I suppose but Crawl can still kiss my ass, manuals aren't exactly common place, you could have given me, you know, something that lets me cast spells. But still...

RRRRAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!

Oh well, update over.
