Awwww yeah, more Disgaea!

Being in the room before going to the tutorial level, I buy some stuff. "Stuff" being a lance for Etna, 'cause she already uses a spear and it seemed like a natural evolution of weapon technology. After saving, I head out for the next tutorial battle thing.

Tutorial 3: Geo Effect!

Basically, this tells me how little rocks on the battle map can make the enemy stronger and stuff. I can destroy them, which is nice.

Now, it's time for the actual battle.

The battle was harder than the rest, as one of my precious Prinnies died! But then I revived them. After that, it's time to hang around and learn about something called "The Dark Assembly". Spooooky.

Well actually, it's where I'm supposed to make characters. This all sounds pretty complex.

...alright? I hope I get NPC characters, too.

Hilariously enough, when I go to the Assembly, it's one of the Prinnies that has the highest Mana. While I'm glad the Netherworld has a democratic system, I'm not sure of giant bird things as effective senators.

I can't actually make any effective characters at this point, so I'll just head to a new location I unlocked: "Vyers Castle". Should be fun.

This first battle is at a Gate. I send out my vanguard of Prinnies, again in a V shape, and I have Etna and Laharl take out the Geo Thingy next door. They destroy it pretty easily, and damage all the enemies, getting lots of goodies in return.

The enemies run at my Prinny V, and one is very flankable. I send Etna a square behind it, allowing her and two Prinnies to attack it simultaneously. Brave Vasquez moves out to attack the other two. All three enemies are systematically destroyed.

However, there are four left. They, smartly enough, just sit there, waiting for me. Clever girl.

My Prinnies move a little far ahead, and Etna and Laharl lag behind. Seems like there's a fifth enemy!

They flank my ass, and the head Prinny takes some decent damage. Luckily, Etna's double reach allows her to strike from inside the Prinny formation, and attack while being herself unharmed. Two enemies down.

One Prinny falls, but Etna and Asbestos team up to destroy an enemy in return, as do Vasquez and Laharl. Just one lonely enemy left. Wait, two, one was hidden.

Laharl and Vasquez take down Wesker, and Spiral is defeated as well. I did pretty well, I'd say. Just one casualty, and I was outnumbered. I go heal, then I'm back to fight again.

Now entering... The Blessed Court.

Seems like they want to plundARRRR this place. Acceptable.

I start with the usual. Now, is it just me, or do the names of enemies sound like NATO phonetic alphabet words? "Epsilon"! "Escargo"! Stuff like that.

In two turns, the whole first wave of attackers falls to dual-wielding birds. The other enemies, again being smart, don't rush out and attack me. I like the AI in this game.

I blow up a Geo Thingy, and it reqally hurts two of my Prinnies. When I attack, a Counter kills one of them. Another is killed next turn. Crap.

...and another. All Prinnies down, folks. All Prinnies down. Luckily, Etna and Laharl are both at (almost) full health. They kill an enemy, leaving just 2 now, but one looks tougher. I attack it. 'Tis pretty tough. However, when both Etna and Laharl attack him, he falls just like any other.

I immediately save.

I buy a bulletproof vest for Laharl, upping his defense and HP a bit. Now, I'm going to hire a new character. They'll be a Brawler, beatin' stuff up with their fists.

I'll leave off here, and with a question: what should the name of the Brawler be?
