Debriefing of the Defense of British Intelligence Office

Attendance

  • Colonel Terrence Whitmore - Base Commander
  • Samual "Bull" Fynn - SE2 Squad Leader, Engineer
  • Erin "Elf" Farrell - SE2 Second in command, Scout

At first glance the pair made quite an amusing sight. Fynn was a large man, easily over 6' tall. Hands and face marked with old flash burns and a few more recent ones. Farrell was far less physically imposing, the top of her head hardly even reaching her companions shoulder but held an intense gaze to her, making note of everything around her. But the odd match was more than aesthetics, Whitmore had guided the engineer into Farrell's selection in hopes of fostering a better understanding of the more subtle arts of warfare, and if the relieved note from Captain Weller was any indication, then it was successful thus far.

"Well, let us get down to business." The Colonel said finally hiding his amusement at the relief that passed between the pair. "Start from your arrival Sam," he said in his usual familiar tone.

"Sure... Terrence." Bull started, a little uncomfortable with the Colonel's informal procedures. "We arrived at about 1200 and met with Captain Weller shortly after. Though the office was clearly well protected we offered our services and he set us to work."

"The station was already on high alert," The scout spoke up during her companion's pause, ignoring the small glance of annoyance. "But ye really shouldn't trust anything but yer own eyes."

"Indeed." Bull took back the reigns of the conversation, continuing from where he left off. I stationed Oz on the heavy machine gun set up in the entryway as he had been eying it since we had arrived. Viper took position on the second floor as a vantage point overlooking the main road. I also had Abala set up a medical checkpoint on the first floor so he could help with covering fire as well as it being a convenient place for the injured to gather safely." Whitmore followed the explanation glancing over the building layout, nodding slightly at the choices. Seeming pleased at the approval, Bull continued. "I initially sent Taras down the road to look over the bar, it was an easy enough building to check over alone. Farrell and I set off to checking the last building."

"The guard out front said the house was clean, but over half the place was locked tight. Sammy here worked his magic though, and we were able to give the place a good once over. There was a nice medi kit down near the kitchen that we shuffled of to Abala. Though upstairs someone got tricky and hid something away."

"It was a simple enough trap, must have been put up in a rush." Fynn casually dismissed the trap, sounding a little disgusted at the lack of challenge. "After disengaging the grenade I discovered a pistol. It wasn't hard to picture at that point that something was up so I set to unlocking the rest of the doors so we could give it a better look."

"Clean house my ass. We found some git hunkered off in the corner trying to blend into the wallpaper." The scout shook her head. "Don't know why he was so surprised he got caught but I was much obliged for the hesitation. I roughed him up a bit, holding him up til Sammy could bring a bit more muscle to the situation." She said cheerfully. Whitmore glanced slightly at the medical notes from the interrogation team and the extensive list of knife lacerations before looking back to the woman's laid back smirk.

"Yes, Captain Weller wanted me to thank you for that. Oberst Dirk Binder has been... surprisingly cooperative."

"Grand."

"Anyway, Continue."

"Yes, well after Taras returned, Farrell said that she and Taras would be able to hold the building. I was concerned that it was a little too much ground to cover so I added a few deterrents for any enemies that considered flanking them."

"Deterrents? Is that what there calling it now? Last I checked it was TNT," The scout exclaimed in an amused tone.

"It worked didn't it?" The engineer replied with a hint of a smile, the first the Colonel had noticed throughout the debriefing.

"It was a sweet thought at least but I could have done well enough without it."

"Sure you could." the good nature slipped back away as the two began glaring but Whitmore cleared his throat bringing the focus back to the matter at hand.

"Sorry Sir." Fynn looked properly chastised. "The assault was pretty straight forward. Most of the infiltrators came from the south as expected and got into a firefight with the guards. Oz and Viper assisted with covering fire keeping their approach to a minimum. By the time I got into position the main group was pretty much mopped up."

"Aye, Taras slipped on out and gave the blighters a bang. They never saw it coming. Couple of other gits tried to sneak up but they were easy pickings." Farrell shrugged a bit. "They never had a chance."

"Good to hear." Colonel Whitmore smiled at the pair. "Well I think I have the information I need. I'll go over what we got and I'll bring the results to you. Until then, enjoy a bit of rest. Dismissed.

On a side note there were a few other chests with items I couldn't really justify in the narrative 6-_-. There's a chest in Weller's office that had a rifle, nothing too special (sorry, I didn't think to screen shot it but really you can't miss it). The only way to get it though is to break a chair blocking it and I just couldn't justify having my leader walk into the office and destroy the chair with semi auto and loot the chest... yeah.

Anyway on the second floor of the bar there is a locked door with a really high skill requirement, if you want to raise your engineering skill you could use up a few lock picks on it but you're gonna have to break it open if you want in. The chest though is well worth it as it had a nice Browning machine gun, a decent early heavy weapon. I don't know if the chests are randomized or not but it's worth a look.

All and all it was a pretty straightforward fight, my units hardly had anything to do. The missions get a lot more involved as things go... in fact this was really an oddity to me. The only damage I took was after the battle was over trying to disarm the traps I put up. Not sure which mission I'll do next but I'm looking forward to playing more with this group so it should come up soon.
