Oh, so THAT's where the liveblog went. I was wondering why things suddenly went silent. On that note, am I the only one who prefers the previous more forum thread-ish format for this liveblog thingamagjig?

Anyway, naturally Tedd is a pervert but not about any actually sexual things because sex is icky. Which, as Cakman often mentioned, is creepy because it's all about sex but it never deals with it.

It reminds me of that guy I met once who was going on about how he was so infatuated with this woman he doesn't even think about having sex with her. A woman he hadn't actually talked to at that point. There's few times I felt so intensely creeped out by someone. Having a crush on somebody or just being physically into someone is all cool, but he kept on emphasising how he doesn't think about doing it with her (but apparently thinks about how he doesn't think that?). It just gives off creepy stalker vibes.

So yeah, EGS bombards you with fetishes and then pretends everything is just normal and ordinary and it feels wrong.

Also, just because I love beating dead horses, even unsexed aliens have normal gender identities because something gender dysphoria or transgenderism is unthinkable in a comic that heavily deals with sex changes and even has a gender-bent clone of a guy.

Yeah, the forums were nicer. It was made in this format, so they could remain permanent. The forums, you see, are cleaned out every couple of months, which is bad for completed liveblogs that are no longer updating but have Archive Binge potential.

• You know, one of the things I really hate about El Goonish Shive is its lack of punchlines. Not that I NEED punchlines, but the primary goal of this webcomic seems to be that of a comedy series with serious parts. And he fails on both counts.

• The punchline is not bad. It's not good, but it's not bad. I could do without the male-seeming alien's last line, though.
• And saying "it's horribly cliche" doesn't make it good. It doesn't make Dan Shive edgy for calling it out as such either.

• I find it odd that there were no backgrounds in this strip, but in the third panel, Dan Shive drew a background, but then didn't draw people.

• If "TG" was an intentional "transgendered" pun, then that is clever, and I congratulate the author.

• To fit in better? Why would you concern yourselves with fitting in? Do they do it on their native planet? That would make no sense.
• This egg talk reminds me of that weird egg-cow scene at the start of District 9. I liked that movie. It was interesting.

• I also have a problem with Shive's taking of antennae- they aren't like... stiff... Are they? And if they are, would they ALL have the same Mc Donald's arch figure?
