As you might expect for the day before Christmas, the rink was really crowded. Everyone seemingly wanted to be there. Everyone from very shaky skaters to some really very excellent ones. Showing off going backwards, teaching their quick-skating hockey sons or little daughter who hardly knows how to skate... you get the idea :p I commented to a rather proficient little girl I'd seen before, after maybe 15 minutes, that it was getting a little crowded to do stunts. She seemed to agree. The center of the ice is usually reserved for good figure skaters to practice, but not only were there several of us there, a cadre of hockey skaters had taken it over.

I still managed to get in most of my regular skating. Three turns, mokawk turns, spread eagles and spins which could really use some work (:p), even attempts at using my toe pick for its intended use in getting off the ice (and not just in a strictly linear manner; however, I'm not sure they would be called jumps, more like tiny hops. Still. :p)

It was fun. It was also fun seeing people out there skating. And also kinda fun figuring out how to do stuff with everyone else there and not run into anyone else! My mom - who only took a few beginners lessons and feels really clumsy; and also hates having to dodge quick little kids - would have hated it, though.
