Did my usual Monday skate today. It was, thankfully, much less crowded than last week, despite the fact that there were both adults skating around and the usual toddler lessons. Also, nobody was all that fast this time or doing tricks, so it was easier to keep track of where people were so as not to crash into them. I was able to really stretch out and work up a nice healthy sweat going pretty fast - I took my jacket off and just skated around in my light sweater and a fleece vest. The vest was probably overkill, too - I would probably have been more comfortable without it. :p

Lots of mohawk turns, three-turns, backwards skating. Still working on the spread-eagles and spin - sometimes I can get an okay spin going, but, ah, again, not satisfied, too slow. I have a need, a need for speed!.

Also, as I said, attempting a sort of jump, but extremely hoppily and not at all looking like a real jump, no real height or power to it. :p

Extremely pleased to have been able to get in some good, vigorous practice though, and to have enough ice to work on the more difficult stuff. Muscles feel used and a little tight, which is probably a good sign that I got a good workout. And should stretch. :p

Whew, it's good that you're doing this regularly. I feel like a wimp after having not exercised all winter. An achy wimp.

Heh, and I know what you mean about speed; I would never have thought it, but I'm a speed freak too.

Oh, trust me, I know all about being an achy wimp. Gym? My un-favorite class ever. Even now you really would be very unlikely to see me trying competitive sports, and it's only this last year I slimmed down and started really exercising.

I do like some adrenaline rushes, though - skiing, skating obviously, I did some whitewater kayaking when I was in college. I'm actually getting the feeling now that my spins don't so much have a lack of speed as I'm not quite balancing right in them so I have to leave them prematurely before I topple over (and before they can acheive top speed). Which can be a little annoying :p
