Let's Play Megaman Star Force
Luna may not have the biggest pair of drill-tails I've seen a girl sporting, but she is pretty high up the list.
Hunter1
I really do like that they made plot-related Brother Bands not count to your Brother Band limit with other players in later games. I always felt limited from that not being the case in this game, though that's mainly due to the arbitrary limits I set on myself for Brother Bands.
MFM
Remind me, they didn't use Tag Mode for Brother Bands, did they?
Hunter1
I don't think so...? As far as I can tell the standard Nintendo WFC is used for linked play, and registering Brothers is just a matter of entering a Friend Code. I imagine that both Brothers have to be online at the same time in order to update their information, though.

I'm not really well-versed on the ins-and-outs of pre-3DS Nintendo wifi.
ComicX6
Tag Mode is basically DS Streetpass: You can see parts of Streetpass in it, but it's still got some ways to go. Basically, you needed a game that supported it, which you then had to load up and start. You then engage Tag Mode from inside the game, and then close the DS with the game still running.

The World Ends With You notably used it for Tag PP that you needed to evolve some pins (those of us who lacked DS using friends found the Wii's Nintendo Channel to be a godsend), and Animal Crossing Wild World used it for... something, I can't remember what. Likely more games used it, but I don't know any off the top of my head.

As for the differences between DS and 3DS wireless... There aren't many. You entered connection setup from inside games instead of System Settings, the wireless was off unless enabled by software instead of toggled by a hardware switch, and the wifi didn't support a few security methods that newer Nintendo systems do. The DSi "fixed" the first and third, but it didn't affect older DS games. Otherwise, the DS had the same Local Wireless and Internet Wireless modes that the 3DS does.
Hunter1
...I would say that the formula sounds a lot like Persona 4's, but I'm pretty sure P4 came out a few years later (checking... Yep, P4 came out second by a wide margin).

And yeah, you likely weren't meant to do the MMBN crossover quest just quite yet, but if you can beat it this early, it likely wasn't too much later that it was meant to be done.
Hunter1
I can't remember whether they ever actually talk about Jammers in any significant capacity beyond this. I mean, the concept behind them is certainly... something, but as far as I can remember, they're only ever random obstacles to pad out the games some.
MFM
Here's something you didn't comment on. The car thief Jammer Pulses out during his explosion animation, and Omega-Xis reassures Geo that he didn't just kill a man.

No other Jammer is shown to do this, and according to the Manual, a wave-changed human can be deleted like any other EM being.
Mysterion
I like how the alien bull made of radio waves still feels the need to recklessly charge at anything that's red (regardless of whether or not that actually holds true in real life).
MFM
In one of the anime episodes Geo beat him by tricking him into charging at a red water tower.

Ironically, Taurus/Taurus Fire is red himself.
ComicX6
Why're all these BMWs so crappy?

To mess with you, presumably.
MFM
Because you're not even past the second boss, that's why they suck.
Hunter1
I have it on good authority that the Blue Waves almost universally suck in Star Force.
trace.reading
(they changed Lyra's name to be the same as the English name of the constellation she's based on, but for some reason didn't change Harp Note to Lyra Note as you'd expect...)

IIRC, the English dub of the anime fixed this by referring to Sonia's wave change form as Lyra Note. Though then they changed her last name to Sky for no real reason. Swing and a miss.
MFM
And we get Megaman's first combat ally.

If those two don't get together by the end of the series, I'll be surprised.
Hunter1
I think the reason why they changed her name to Sky was because her Japanese given name could mean "beautiful sky." Why they changed it to begin with (and this is the same dub that had Geo call out "Rock Buster!" in one episode and only one episode) though, I have no clue.
ComicX6
Is it just me, or does Dragon Sky resemble Rayquaza?
Hunter1
I loved that joke about Luna being a satellite. It was a nice nerd joke to put in.
ScorpioRat
Looking back at the game, I can't really find the concept of "mind rape via textbooks" anything but silly. Though that could be said for a lot of things in both BN and SF.
MFM
...Let me guess, they made a single set of Brotherband bonuses for all three versions and then failed to account for how that would affect each version's unique abilities?
Hunter1
I just tested the ability and it turns out that the regeneration still occurs; Float only blocks negative effects and Luna's description was just misleading.
ComicX6
Oh, well that's good.
Hunter1
I don't think I'd want to know what a falling star tastes like.
MFM
I do like that they mixed the boss rush up by having you fight Gemini first, though doing so did leads to the problem of fighting him multiple times in such close proximity. And of not having him be a powered-up form, otherwise the other bosses would appear even less threatening.
MFM
I always remember Cepheus looking kind of silly, but then I started to think I was just remembering incorrectly and that he can't look that silly.

But he actually looks sillier than I remember.
MFM
Methinks the devs didn't think the three attack limit for bosses all the way through.

Seriously, if they at least ignored it for Andromeda, that transformation trick may have actually been a challenge...
Hunter1
And that's another one down. Wow... I just realized how close we are to the end of Star Force 3...
Hunter1
I could've sworn this game had a longer postgame. Maybe I'm thinking of Star Force 2.

Either way, that'll certainly be an experience, for better or for worse.
MFM
Yeah the next two games' postgames get padded out a bit thanks to them throwing every single boss at you again.
