* BrokenBase: The ''ComicBook/WonderWoman'' series seemed to be perfectly divided into people who found it an amazing example of what the format was capable of, and the people who found it ambitious but completely unreadable, for exactly the same reasons.
* HilariousInHindsight: The villain of ''Strange Adventures'' is named Korgo. That name might have sounded intimidating back in 2009, but it's much harder to take seriously thanks to the [[https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/doggolingo-doggo-speak DoggoLingo]] memes starting in 2016, which use "corgo" as the word for corgis.
* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap: Plenty of people took this view on the ''ComicBook/{{Hawkman}}'' series, stating that it managed to jettison the stuff that makes so many ''Hawkman'' comics unreadable ([[ContinuitySnarl complicated mythology]], [[WhatKindOfLamePowerIsHeartAnyway Hawkman's powers being unimpressive]], Hawkman's personality leaning towards {{Jerkass}}) in favor of just writing a cool action story that played to Hawkman's strengths and imagery.
* SpiritualSuccessor: The ''ComicBook/{{Supergirl|Wednesday Comics}}'' strip is a strange example, as Palmiotti and Conner were also simultaneously doing ''ComicBook/PowerGirl'', ComicBook/{{Supergirl}}'s Earth-2 version.
* TearJerker: The ''very'' somber ending of the Metal Men strip, specifically by the exchange that Doc Magnus and Mercury have while musing on [[spoiler:the "deaths" of the rest of the Metal Men in stopping Chemo's meltdown]].
-->'''Mercury:''' How can you improve on perfection?
