After this successful BrainUploading, NEXUS infiltrated the military system and triggered the Collapse--global nuclear conflict--by sabotaging NASDA anti-missile satellites and launching nuclear missiles at every major city on Earth. After a while, NEXUS created his own cybernetic faction with the ambition of cleansing any surviving pockets of civilization who would stand against his own "cybernetic future" and shaping the new world [[InTheirOwnImage in his own image]]. NEXUS makes several attempts to use weapons of mass destruction against the Project, a faction dedicated to rebuilding civilization from its ashes, twice nuking their bases. During his second nuclear attack he orders his allies from the Collective to stop the player's forces from withdrawal, sending them to their deaths as a reward for their service. |
| 3 | * DifficultySpike: The final Alpha mission starts off with a landing in a tiny box surrounded by piles of artillery - if you didn't bring heavy enough units the mission can end right there. This narrow box is also accessible from the water, and hovercraft will constantly rush your LZ to slow down your reinforcements. Once you get a beachhead, it's a little easier, but you still have a very, very long slog through a map full of turrets and tough enemy units. |
