1* HarsherInHindsight: The final panel of the ''Magazine/{{Mad}}'' satire "thirtysuffering" is a fantasy of the characters in their eighties. [[spoiler: The first speech bubble goes to eightysomething "Hairy," i.e. Gary - the only one of the regulars to be killed off.]]
2* OnceOriginalNowCommon: Watching it now makes it seem hopelessly quaint. However it was one of the first TV dramas to confront more adult topics that normal people might face.
3* SpiritualAdaptation: Just like ''Series/ParkerLewisCantLose'' was the "real" adaptation of ''Film/FerrisBuellersDayOff'', this is often considered ''Film/TheBigChill'' for the small screen despite that movie also getting an "official" adaptation in ''Hometown'', which lasted half a season.
4* UnintentionalPeriodPiece: The series is remembered primarily for being associated with the 'Baby-Boomer' demographic along with some of the more common [[TheEighties 80s]] tropes.
