* BrokenBase: Both Abraham and Glenn being killed off. Some feel that Abraham making a HeroicSacrifice only for Glenn to die moments later anyway made Glenn's death overshadow his, and believe he still had loads of story potential left, particularly during All-Out War when his military expertise could have been well-utilized. On Glenn's part, he was OutOfFocus before his demise and others argue that him dying after Abraham made a HeroicSacrifice was unnecessary. Others feel that, whilst unexpected, it was nevertheless a good way of showing how utterly deranged Negan is. And some just saw it coming, seeing as both characters died in the comics and Abraham's canonical death was taken by Denise.
* EvilIsCool: Negan ''really'' shows us how ridiculously awesome he is in this episode.
* LeaningOnTheFourthWall: Negan's line while killing Glenn, "I can see this is hard on you guys. I am sorry. But I did say it, no exceptions!" has been taken by some as him not just addressing Rick's group, but everyone watching the show. Given the fans' reaction to Glenn's death and Abraham's right before, this actually would make sense. It helps that he is facing the camera as he says the line, making it appear that he is speaking directly to the audience.
* LikeYouWouldReallyDoIt: It's safe to say that almost no one expected Rick or Carl to get the bat. Some also believed that Glenn would be safe, given his fake-out death the previous season as well as being the victim in the comics making it too obvious for him to be the victim. [[AvertedTrope They were wrong.]]
* {{Narm}}: The Sunday dinner ImagineSpot for some fans. While it is sad to see a family dinner for the group that can never happen now, seeing it setup on the grass near a random empty street corner in Alexandria rather than the pond or similar while everyone is absurdly happy and carefree, while passing around what seems to be fresh baked bread can get a few laughs due to how unlikely (not impossible, but unlikely) it is, and how violently it clashes with the overall tone of the show. [[spoiler:Rick's vision coming to pass in the series finale (albeit without Rick himself) does retroactively make it NarmCharm for some, since it proves Rick wasn't crazy after all to wish for such a thing.]]
* SugarWiki/SheReallyCanAct:
** This episode shows us Creator/LaurenCohan's true acting ability when as Maggie she cries out for Glenn as he is being bludgeoned to death.
** Creator/AndrewLincoln has gotten much praise for his acting in this episode, particularly when Rick breaks down as he is forced to cut Carl's hand off.
** Hell, the entire cast really brings their A-game in this episode, excellently conveying the sheer terror and desperation that the group finds themselves in as they're forced to watch two of their most beloved members meet brutal deaths, and later the sadness once the nightmare has ended and they unite to carry their fallen members to the truck to be taken to Hilltop.
** Whether viewers felt the gore was excessive or not, almost everyone seems to universally agree that Creator/JeffreyDeanMorgan's portrayal of Negan was both brilliant and terrifying. Many also feel that his portrayal was far better than his much more laidback performance in the Season 6 finale.
