* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: Is "the bordello" Jasper asks about in the town meeting actually Maison Derrière, and Abe and him failing to realize it and thinking the "burlesque house" everyone else talks about is a different place? Or is there also a bordello in town that they visit, and are feigning ignorance because they'll rather throw Maison Derrière under the bus in order to keep it in business?
* HilariousInHindsight:
** Some viewers have noticed that the speaker in front of the Maison Derrière [[https://frinkiac.com/img/S08E05/1050582.jpg looks like an iPod]].
** When Marge is showing pictures of the people visiting the burlesque house, the only woman among them is her sister Patty. Later episodes (such as "[[Recap/TheSimpsonsS13E9JawsWiredShut Jaws Wired Shut]]" and "[[Recap/TheSimpsonsS16E10TheresSomethingAboutMarrying There's Something About Marrying]]") reveal that Patty is, in fact, a lesbian; "Jaws Wired Shut" implied that she's in the closet about her sexuality while "There's Something About Marrying" had her come out.
** Belle looks like an early version of ''WesternAnimation/{{Futurama}}'''s Mom (of Mom's Friendly Robot Company). She's even voiced by Creator/TressMacNeille. The only real difference besides their overall aesthetics are their personalities: Belle looks harsh but is actually a very cordial ReasonableAuthorityFigure while Mom is [[BitchInSheepsClothing faking a kind old lady personality]] [[CorruptCorporateExecutive and bleeding the oil and robot industries dry]].
* MemeticMutation: [[https://frinkiac.com/video/S08E05/0Bp-FkWzrs9AKMf37waS2Uupsss=.gif Grandpa entering the Maison, seeing Bart, and immediately leaving]]; the gif of which has become highly popular for expressing ScrewThisImOuttaHere in online communication.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: Rather curiously, Belle never had a speaking role after this episode--despite the episode making it clear that she's been a longtime resident and doing a good job of establishing her role in relation to the rest of the town, which could probably have introduced all kinds of intrigue and plots. Especially curious is that unlike a lot of guest characters who made an impact and never did anything again, who had to deal with their voice being a SpecialGuest, Belle's voice actress, Tress [=MacNeille=], has been in the Also Starring slot regularly since the first season.
