* ArchivePanic: On top of all the albums listed on the main page, they have released dozens upon dozens of their live performances for download on Bandcamp. There are over 80 of them as of this writing. And if that isn't enough, there's also the matter of tracking down all the members' various side-projects, like Music/Khanate, Burning Witch, Goatsnake, KTL, Lotus Eaters, Burial Chamber Trio, Grave Temple, Thorr's Hammer, and Teeth of Lions Rule the Divine, just to name a few (not to mention their work in or with non-doom/drone bands, such as Greg Anderson's '80s straight-edge hardcore band Brotherhood or his collaborations with LA hardcore/death metal band Xibalba).
* SugarWiki/AwesomeArt: Black One, Altar, Monoliths and Dimensions, and Life Metal all have very impressive album covers. Special mention goes to Life Metal, which has an abstract oil painting that resembles a nebula or gas giant and perfectly depicts the cosmic sound of the record.
* CreepyAwesome: Damn near all of their songs are.
* EpicRiff: "Hunting and Gathering (Cydonia)" has an unusually fast and headbangable riff for them.
* FandomEnragingMisconception: The "O)))" part is silent. Refer to them as "Sunno" and you'll be branded a noob by the band's fans.
* SugarWiki/FunnyMoments: The full title of "FWTBT."It's "FWTBT (I Dream of Lars Ulrich Being Thrown Through the Bus Window Instead of My Mystikal Master Kliff Burton)".
* SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments: "Alice." It's like the musical equivalent of EarnYourHappyEnding.
* MemeticMutation:
** "CRY YOURSELF TO ASH".
** In Russian Internet slang, simple emoticons are often shortened to one and more round brackets (e.g. "lol))" instead of "lol :)"), where multiple brackets are used to put more emphasis (quite often with overusing them for the sake of irony). As a result, the band's name is often being jokingly mocked by its Russian fans to the point of becoming a localized meme, and if you as much as mention it on Russian music forums or imageboards, there's a big chance that around the 20th post it'll increasingly transform to something like "Sunn O)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))0000000000".
** Jokes about the band sounding like a refrigerator or air conditioner.
** A meme that became recent was during a performance, a fan attempted to stage dive. No points guessing what happened.
--> Stephen O'Malley: So last night, somebody stage dived at a Sunn O))) show. He's still on his way down.
* NightmareFuel: Almost their whole discography really, but especially the album Black One, and especially the song "Báthory Erszébet."
** The Iron Soul of Nothing, a remix of their first album by Music/NurseWithWound, reaches new levels of horror with the song "Ash on the Trees", which blends the band's usual DroneOfDread with emotionless chanting, cryptic lyrics, random, unexpected noises like breaking glass, and ghostly wailing to create a very unnerving experience.
* ParanoiaFuel: "Fried Eagle Mind," off Altar.
* PeripheryDemographic: While they're divisive within the metal community, they're critically acclaimed among fans of ambient, experimental, and noise music.
* QuirkyWork: Sunn O)))'s songs are really long and consist, for the most part, of droning guitars, roaring/shrieking vocals and nothing but.
* SignatureSong: "It Took the Night to Believe" or "Aghartha."
* SugarWiki/SweetDreamsFuel: "Alice", the closing track on Monoliths and Dimensions, which starts out at the band's usual level of ominousness, but slowly becomes LighterAndSofter until it sounds outright heavenly by the end.
* TearJerker: "The Sinking Belle", a massive GenreShift on the Altar album, produced in collaboration with Boris and Jesse Sykes.
