* CrossesTheLineTwice:
** Ernie finally has enough of Burt's weird behavior and confronts the doctors. They tell him Burt's dying... but adds that Ernie must have known about it since Burt is likely blind by now. SmashCut to the bus driver completely blind ''while driving the (wildly swerving) bus''.
** Shortly after realizing what's happened, Ernie begins to make his way out of the hospital, only to run into the police chief (followed by a swarm of cops), who informs him that Burt had just viciously assaulted two of Stark's lackeys, currently in traction, in order to get his location out of them. After the police chief and the rest of the cops leave, Ernie tricks the one left behind watching after their room to go as well (claiming to be taking over his post)... and then sneaks into their room, and ''beats them up as well''.
--->'''Ernie''': ''Where the hell is my partner?!'' (zip noise; grunt of pain)
* FridgeHorror: The bus driver. Because he swapped the samples, he was not informed of his condition so he was dying the entire time ''and had no clue.'' He was working and driving a bus full of people when he suddenly went blind. Suddenly going blind and then getting weaker by the day, slowly dying from a disease and having no clue of what's happening or that you're even dying is likely something you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy.
* SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments:
** Burt empathizing with the hostage taker in the convenience store, and getting him to stand down.
** Burt and his family attending the bus driver's funeral, with Burt referring to the latter as having "given [him] back [his] life".
* MoralEventHorizon: Stark is seemingly set up to be less nasty than you're led to assume by simply knocking out the guards transporting Army weaponry he's looking to hijack and leaving them alive, but minutes later he gleefully kills two policemen by blowing up their car with an RPG, as he's specifically a CopKiller.
* NightmareFuel: The bus driver's side of the story. Because he swapped the ID cards on his and Burt's sample, he was completely unaware of his condition and all symptoms of the disease were making themselves known ''while he was driving a bus full of people''. Imagine going dizzy and blind while piloting a vehicle as massive, heavy, and capable of doing serious damage as a bus. Not only that, just imagine leaving a hospital under the assumption you're as fit as a fiddle, only to start going blind and getting weaker and weaker as your body begins shutting down as your organs are suffocating and you have ''absolutely zero clue why''.
* TearJerker: Any of the moments when Burt deals with (what he thinks is) his impending demise.
