* GoodBadBugs: [[spoiler: Soul Steal will kill any and all of the ''Seven Heroes''.]] Then again, considering that [[spoiler:the heroes you fight for most of the game are actually copies sent by the originals]], perhaps this was actually intended this way.
** Soul Steal itself can be considered a GoodBadBug as it was never intended to be used by players (it is set at the highest spark difficulty of 80) and can only be gotten by an exploit.
* NightmareFuel: The music in certain areas and [[spoiler: the concept of your soul being ripped out and eaten by Kzinssie.]]
** [[spoiler:Also, the Termites return in the final scenarios and take over the bodies of [=NPCs=] and recruitable characters. Talking to them makes you fight them, now think about it for a second... They essentially are using your citizens and soldiers as husks.]]
** Rest at an inn with the Darkstone Ring and instead of the regular sleep music, a much more eerie jingle plays as you're losing LP.
** If you do the Cumberland quest wrong [[spoiler:The entire family is slaughtered, the majority of humans are killed, Georg turns to a vengeful ghost who attacks anyone near him. The area is taken over by monsters and ruled by a demon and [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking the bgm becomes more ominous]] ]]
* PortingDisaster: As usual with Square-Enix, the PC version ended up receiving the short end of the stick, especially during launch. There were no in-game settings for PC, the resolution was broken on certain monitors, input lag and controller compatibility issues (which could get you into trouble during gameplay) and leftovers elements from the mobile version, like touch buttons and inconsistent areas where you could click with the mouse or not. While most of these issues were fixed with patches, some of them, like the aforementioned input lag, still remains unfixed to this day. The input lag problem is persistent to all the console ports as well, with only the original mobile versions spared. Thankfully the [=SaGa=] team learned from their mistakes with their port of the [[VideoGame/RomancingSaGa3 third game]].
* ViewerGenderConfusion: Many players don’t realize Wagnas is male because they only see him in his feminine, butterfly form that has come from centuries of assimilating with monsters. Said form included includes bare breasts and child-bearing hips. Since his male form isn’t even in the game, only in later projects that aren’t even all translated to English, it’s easy to miss the handful of times he’s even referred to by pronouns (which are he/him).
