* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: Does Elisa recognize who Jack was at the end, or does she simply muse about the Jack Frost she believed saved her? Is she crying because she realized what might have been, or is she just touched at him "wishing" her goodbye?
* AngstWhatAngst: Jack gets over Elisa pretty quickly; he sheds some tears, turns her bouquet white, flies back up to his friends and cheerfully waves goodbye to the audience. Presumably the knowledge that she's [[IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy happy]] and that she does love him in a non-romantic way (through her love for the beauty of winter) is enough to comfort him.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: The Kubla Krauss theme song “There’s The Rub”.
* BaseBreakingCharacter: Elisa. Fans either [[spoiler: wish she and Jack somehow ended up together or despise her for rejecting Jack.]]
* CultClassic: Isn't one of the more famous or memetic specials, but is usually regarded as a fan-favorite.
* HilariousInHindsight:
** A girl being in love with Jack Frost... well, that seems pretty random. [[http://tessculhane.deviantart.com/art/To-All-of-Jack-Frost-s-New-Fangirls-341239979?q=gallery%3ATessCulhane%2F39004801&qo=4 Not anymore]], thanks in part to ''WesternAnimation/RiseOfTheGuardians.''
** So, a BlueIsHeroic protagonist who has to deal with a mustachioed egomaniacal BigBad who uses a robot army... are we talking about Jack Frost, or Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog?
** The story is eerily reminiscent of ''Literature/TheLittleMermaid.'' Buddy Hackett would later voice another animal sidekick in [[WesternAnimation/TheLIttleMermaid the Disney version of that story.]]
** Robert Morse, the voice of Jack, would end up playing Santa Claus in multiple Christmas episodes of ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitansGo!'' Jack may not have gotten the girl, but at least he got a promotion.
* TearJerker:
** Jack laments that for all his power, he's still the only one of his kind, with no one to share his life with.
** [[spoiler: After everything Jack did to win the heart of the girl who he loved so much that he was willing to give up immortality for, she marries someone else, and he has no choice but to return to the heavens.]]
** Kubla Kraus has all of January Junction under his thumb but he doesn't know why he's still not happy.
* ValuesDissonance:
** The villain, Kubla Krauss, is very obviously a Cossack Russian (remember this was around the time detente ended). Played with in that even the other Cossacks couldn't stand him!
** Elisa's parents making the comments they do regarding Holly's size may come off as just a tad insensitive, especially to those afflicted with dwarfism.
** The term "Snow Gypsy" is used to describe some of the denizens of the winter kingdom, but they're not intended in any way to reference actual Roma. The movie sadly came out well before widespread knowledge of the term being offensive happened.
