* GrowingTheBeard: ''Mulberry'' and ''Electric Wonderland'' show greater attempts for depth than the older comics do. ArtEvolution also seems apparent in all but the youngest of the flagship series.

* {{Anvilicious}}: "[[http://www.platypuscomix.net/miscellaneous/index.php?issue=16&page=0 Vess MacMeal Starring in: The More You Know!]]" It seems possible this happened on purpose, since the comic acts as a throwback to cautionary stories written during the UsefulNotes/ColdWar.
* HilariousInHindsight: The ending of "[[http://www.platypuscomix.net/miscellaneous/index.php?issue=16&pageType=index&seriesID=7 Vess MacMeal Starring in: The More You Know!]]" seems even more implausible when considering the person depicted as the antagonist died less than two months after the comic's release.
* SequelDisplacement: Even though Peter calls "Raiders of the Lost Arc" his favorite Platypus Comix story, he has an open hatred towards the half written in 1998. As a result, the website only features the half from 2001, set post-9/11.

* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: "[[http://www.platypuscomix.net/onlyme/ootwalkthrough.html My Ocarina of Time Walkthrough]]" has a point in which the player asks, "How do I defeat Jenova?" Instead of stating that Jenova comes from ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyVII'', not ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime Ocarina of Time]]'', Peter fabricates instructions on how to gain the abilities to turn into a werewolf and "[[Franchise/FinalFantasy Omnislash]]". [[spoiler:He caps off his response by warning that defeating Jenova will cause the N64 to explode.]]
* HarsherInHindsight:
** Peter advises in "[[http://www.platypuscomix.net/educational/bestsets.html The Five Best Sets Ever]]" that since Time-Life cut the price of ''WesternAnimation/TheRealGhostbusters'': The Complete Collection in half, an '80s kid "...should buy this yesterday." Some time afterward, the ''Real Ghostbusters'' DVD rights reverted to Creator/SonyPictures, causing the Time-Life collection to go out-of-print, in favor of {{Vanilla Edition}}s containing fewer episodes, and no bonus features.
** The [[http://www.platypuscomix.net/kidswbyourself/thelastday.html review]] of Creator/KidsWB's final day includes a lament about the likelihood that ''WesternAnimation/WorldOfQuest'' would end after 13 episodes, then never air on US televisions again "until it appears on Creator/ToonDisney at 3 in the morning in the year 2014." Not only did the second season of ''World Of Quest'' air only in Europe, but Peter just happened to write that review mere months before Disney announced they had decided to replace Toon Disney with Creator/DisneyXD. On the bright side, his ExactWords don't give a ''completely'' correct prediction of the future of ''World Of Quest''; he feared it would disappear from the face of the Earth.
* HeartwarmingInHindsight: "[[http://platypuscomix.com/history/toysrus.html The Platypus Comix Farewell Toys R Us Tour]]", documenting Peter's last visit to Toys 'R' Us after they declared bankruptcy, correctly predicts at the end that the retail brand would eventually experience a revival.
* HilariousInHindsight:
** "[[http://www.platypuscomix.net/onlyme/ootwalkthrough.html My Ocarina of Time]] {{Walkthrough}}" claims that beating Film/TheRunningMan in a race will grant the player a werewolf's curse. Five years later, ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTwilightPrincess'' starred a Link who could turn into a wolf.
** Reading Peter write, "[[http://www.platypuscomix.net/kidzone/gack.html Spidey is red-hot and Batman is red-not. But stuff happens.]]", evidently unable to foresee ''Film/TheDarkKnightTrilogy'' rebuilding ComicBook/{{Batman}}'s fame, and ''Film/SpiderMan3'' causing ComicBook/SpiderMan to lose his.
** In 2004, Peter found a cartoon on Telefutura starring a homely schoolgirl named "Betty." After watching an episode, he published [[http://www.platypuscomix.net/hollywood/bettytoons.html a review]] online, titled "The most obscure cartoon I can possibly review." Two years later, the character of [[Series/YoSoyBettyLaFea Betty La Fea]] was formally introduced to America with the successful sitcom, ''Series/UglyBetty'', prompting Peter to retitle the article (now called "Ugly Betty: The Cartoon Series") and rewrite the opening and concluding paragraphs.
** It feels jarring now to read [[http://www.platypuscomix.net/bored/tvguideads13.html this volume]] of "The Ancient Lost Art of ''TV Guide'' Advertising" and remember a short time when Peter would talk about ''Series/FreeSpirit1989'' without batting an eyelash, never mind [[SugarWiki/GushingAboutCharactersYouLike gushing about Winnie Goodwin]] or desiring to [[Webcomic/FreeSpirit2014 write better stories for her]].
** From "[[http://www.platypuscomix.net/kidzone/comingtodvdnever.html Why you may never see some of your favorite childhood shows on DVD]]":
*** The section on ''[[WesternAnimation/MuppetBabies1984 Muppet Babies]]'' has an offhand comment that NBC took so long to release ''Series/SaturdayNightLive'' season one on DVD, that "...they'll never get to [[AudienceAlienatingEra the seasons nobody cares about]]." This took on a new meaning after NBC decided to stop releasing ''SNL'' complete season DVD boxsets after season five, the last one to include any of the Not Ready For Primetime Players as regular cast members.
*** The Creator/FOXKids section mentions that Creator/{{Disney}}'s [=DVDs=] of ''WesternAnimation/TheTick'' had two episodes omitted because they contained parodies of Creator/{{Marvel}} characters that they could be sued for. Two years after the article was published, Disney acquired the very company that stopped them from putting specific episodes of the show on DVD.
*** The article closes with "It's a real tragedy moments like [[WesternAnimation/BobbysWorld "Fish Don't Stink"]] can't be legally bought." Five years after the article was published, the entire series of ''Bobby's World'' was released to DVD.
** "The Ancient Lost Art of ''TV Guide'' Advertising" Vol. 7, "The Bicentennial", shares [[http://www.platypuscomix.net/bored/bicentennial24.JPG a cover]] promoting the ''Series/WonderWoman'' TV show. Underneath, Peter laments that ComicBook/WonderWoman apparently doesn't seem relatable enough for her own theatrical movie, with the rejection of a Creator/JossWhedon-penned screenplay prompting him to declare, "if Joss can't make it work, no one can." Eventually, Allan Heinberg and Creator/PattyJenkins would respectively pen and direct [[Film/WonderWoman2017 Wonder Woman's first big-screen solo movie]], and turn it into the first critical darling among the Franchise/DCExtendedUniverse's films. This statement might have also become HarsherInHindsight during the year of that movie's premiere, due to the scathing receptions of Joss' leaked ''Wonder Woman'' script, and the first released DC film with him as a credited screenwriter, ''Film/JusticeLeague2017''; the latter would even receive a recut four years later, [[Film/ZackSnydersJusticeLeague either replacing or deleting all of his material]].
** "[[http://platypuscomix.com/history/toysrus.html The Platypus Comix Farewell Toys R Us Tour]]":
*** Peter notes that he couldn't find any ''Franchise/{{Frozen}}'' merchandise, aside from [[http://platypuscomix.com/history/toysrus23.jpg a battery-powered quad]], leaving him to ponder if ''WesternAnimation/OlafsFrozenAdventure'' preemptively drained public interest in ''WesternAnimation/FrozenII''. The sequel ended up becoming the Franchise/DisneyAnimatedCanon's highest-grossing movie worldwide.
*** Peter also shares [[BlatantLies a leaked synopsis]] of ''Frozen II'', actually consisting of a ''Series/JessicaJones2015'' [[SophomoreSlump season two]] recap with the names changed. Regardless, it foresaw [[spoiler:Elsa reuniting with her mother (though the movie only has Elsa find her spirit)]], and [[spoiler:Anna and Elsa living separately at the end (though the movie ends with Anna as Queen of Arendelle instead of Elsa)]].
** [[http://platypuscomix.com/kidzone/worstshowever.html His article]] on ''[[Series/LaverneAndShirley Laverne and Shirley In The Army]]'' contains a note that it was the only children's show show Creator/RobinWilliams ever starred on. It became this because he landed a role in [[WesternAnimation/SpongeBobSquarePants another children's show]] a few years after the article was published.
** [[http://platypuscomix.com/bored/tvguidesimpsons5.html In his review]] of the ''America's New Love Affair With Cartoons'' issue of TV Guide from 1990, he comments on the fact that ''Film/SuperMarioBros1993'' [[WhatCouldHaveBeen was going to be animated]], claiming that the viewers got shafted and that had it stuck to the same plot but was animated, it would've been a CultClassic, leading to it being a real Mario movie. Years after the article was published, [[WesternAnimation/TheSuperMarioBrosMovie an actual animated Mario movie]], which got much better reception among fans of the franchise, was released.
* MisBlamed: The "Worst Comix Ever" article about ''ComicBook/TheAdventuresOfDAndA'' put its blame for the comic squarely on the shoulders of ''Magazine/DisneyAdventures'' comics editor Heidi [=MacDonald=]. While Heidi's Comics Zone column introducing the comic said that the "whole staff brainstormed to create action-packed adventures", her name wasn't included in the credits for the comic; ''D & A'' writer/artist Mike Duggan had the sole script credit on all three stories.
* OlderThanTheyThink: As noted in a later installment of "Worst Comix Ever!" Peter [[http://www.platypuscomix.net/otherpeople/worstcomixever/whizkids.html reviewed]] ''Tandy Wiz Kids'' #2, "Fit to Win!" years before it appeared on ''WebVideo/AtopTheFourthWall''.

* HilariousInHindsight: The "[[http://platypuscomix.net/top182.gif Pony-Free Since 2001]]" banner took on some irony after a self-proclaimed Pegasister became one of the most frequent posters on the Platypus Comix forum.
