* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: Is Urabe a strange girl that HatesBeingTouched, or does she actually want to make physical contact with Tsubaki, but wants him to ask first?
* ArcFatigue: The Idol storyline went on for longer than some people liked (a year in real time) before the arc finally came to an end in chapter 48.
* AudienceAlienatingPremise: This is the story of a boy that falls in love with the NewTransferStudent after becoming addicted to her saliva. That he first tastes from [[{{Squick}} the pool of drool she left in her desktop]]. Are you interested in that already?
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: Especially in the dream sequences.
* CantUnhearIt: Ayako Yoshitani as Urabe was very well-received by the manga fans, who lament that it's her ''[[OneBookAuthor only]]'' voice-acting role to date (her roles before and after are all live-action).
* FanNickname: ''MGX'' or ''[[PortmanteauSeriesNickname NazoKano]]'' for the series.
* GeniusBonus: The covers of the books contain rather large portions of the English language versions of various literary classics -- the original ''Literature/{{Frankenstein}}'' for Volume 1, for example.
* LesYay:
** Urabe and Oka, exchanging saliva whenever they have lunch (not like ''that!'' Granted, it's kinda kinky all on its own...).
** Oka peeking down Urabe's top.
** Not to mention her camera habit -- she takes pictures of Urabe any time she gets the chance (including a ''nude'' shot from that confrontation with Hayakawa). In the OVA, she takes one group shot before the double date, but then starts snapping artistic solo pics of Urabe, leaving the guys wondering what the hell is going on.
* OneTrueThreesome:
** Later chapters begin slightly teasing with Tsubaki/Urabe/Suwano. [[spoiler:Subverted in chapter 86.]]
** Another possible is Tsubaki/Urabe/Momoka which is nearly ''TwinThreesomeFantasy'' thanks to Urabe's and Momoka's very similar appearance. Just too bad that Tsubaki actually doesn't know about their "[[MistakenIdentity twin switch]]".
* {{Squick}}:
** Sucking saliva off someone's fingers may not be the most romantic thing for most people.
** Urabe's physical reactions to getting excited are typically unsettling and gross, depending on the moment. On one occasion, she suddenly has a ''bucketful'' of saliva pour out of her mouth when her boyfriend flusters her by catching her off guard. For all intents and purposes, it looks and sounds like she's vomiting.
** In the anime, saliva is drawn a lot thicker and ''gooier'' than it looks in the manga (and in real life), always with a slight yellow tint. While they may be trying to allude to honey, saliva being anything but clear can indicate either the person's been eating colored foods (e.g. candy) or that they might have a oral disease.
