* CoveredUp:
** Undeniably "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" by The Arrows, and several of the ones listed on the main page will definitely count as well depending on the listener.
** Most Americans think of "Do You Wanna Touch Me" as her song. It was a big hit for her in 1982, and still sees some airplay in America today. The original version was recorded and co-written by Music/GaryGlitter in 1973...and thanks to his multiple convictions for child molestation and possession of hardcore child pornography, his version doesn't see airplay anywhere. [[OvershadowedbyControversy This has actually caused a few problems whenever its licensed out]]; British ''Series/{{Glee}}'' fans were not amused when "Do You Wanna Touch Me" was covered by the show, and an 2008 Hewlett-Packard TV commercial featuring the Joan Jett version was pulled once HP learned that a convicted child molester wrote the song...and was getting royalties from their ad! When Music/GreenDay sampled Jett's version, "Oh Yeah!", although Glitter was still credited, the band announced that all royalties would be donated to organizations designed to combat sexual abuse.
* EpicRiff: "I Love Rock 'n' Roll", "Bad Reputation", many others. "Love is Pain" is especially noticeable because she tends to signal it by playing a little trill on two other notes before launching into it.
* HarsherInHindsight: One of her most famous lyrics is "I don't give a damn about my bad reputation." In 2015, that statement was put to the test when former bandmate Jackie Fox accused her of standing by and laughing as she was raped. A witness [[https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/arts-and-entertainment/wp/2015/07/13/after-huffington-post-revelations-ex-runaways-bassist-jackie-fox-responds-to-former-bandmates-joan-jett-and-cherie-currie/ confirmed the story]] and Jett defended Fox's rapist (their manager) as recently as [[https://uproxx.com/culture/joan-jett-defends-kim-fowley-accused-rapist-runaways-manager/ 2018]], three years after the testimonies from Fowley's former victims emerged.
