* AdaptationDisplacement: Very few people realize that this show is based on an established property, especially since the toyline it was supposed to promote didn't do well.
* AngstWhatAngst: Despite momentarily calling the destruction of his moon a "major bummer", Maroshi is downright jovial about it, even bidding the debris of his former home a fond farewell as it drifts off into space. [[spoiler:However, this is subverted in "Feelin' It", where it's shown that Maroshi feels completely broken up that his first instinct was to flee with his Flochis rather than do anything about it]].
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFS1vYaH4Ko The theme song.]]
** The show also has some rockin' [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=1&v=BRcWkcNi2Eg original]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yy51Cm_Y1JE songs]] by ''Cosmos & Creature'' too.
* BaseBreakingCharacter: Chicken Plant. Either you find her entertaining for her sassy attitude or you just find her unpleasant.
* HoYay: We have Maroshi running and hugging Kiyoshi the moment the two meet again onscreen.
* IKnewIt: Many fans had theorized that if Kiazuki managed to finally grow Treasure Trees, her first would be sadness, and the season 1 finale proved this theory correct. Many had also correctly guessed that her {{Tsundere}} personality was what blocked her ability.
* JerkassWoobie:
** Kiazuki is not a very nice person, and her treatment of Hanazuki in the first episode she had a major role in causes the poor girl to feel some truly negative emotions. That said, it's not hard to feel sorry for Kiazuki after seeing her destroyed home moon and how she calls herself a failure. [[spoiler:Seeing her cry her heart and soul out in the first season finale, despite having nearly tried to deliberately destroy Hanazuki's moon, just adds fuel to the fire]].
** Chicken Plant. She is [[ParentalNeglect completely dismissive of her children]] even before they're born and yet, while this hardly excuses her actions, she does so because she can't stand the heartache of saying goodbye to countless children that grow up in a near literal blink of an eye.
* LesYay: Hanazuki's instant infatuation with Kiazuki can certainly come across like she has a crush. Not to mention Kiazuki [[{{Glomp}} glomping]] Hanazuki in the Season 1 finale.
%%* MemeticBadass: [[BigGood Little Dreamer]] and [[AwesomeEgo Dazzlessence Jones]].
* MoralEventHorizon: Kiazuki [[spoiler:leaving everyone to die by the Big Bad]]. Thankfully [[SubvertedTrope she redeems herself by the first season finale]], but it's still a rather callous moment.
* {{Moe}}: Hanazuki, with her sweet and happy nature, and pretty much every other character (with a couple of exceptions, like the BigBad) is made of cute.
%%* SugarWiki/MostWonderfulSound: Sleepy's snoring.
%%* SugarWiki/SweetDreamsFuel: When the show isn't startlingly bleak, it's this.
* UglyCute: Zikoro, the black pitbull-like Alterling companion of Kiazuki.
* ViewerGenderConfusion: Despite the TertiarySexualCharacteristics, Pink Hemka is addressed with male pronouns.
* TheWoobie: Kiyoshi. When we first see him, he only knows how to grow black treasure trees, stemming from his complete lack of self-esteem. This is why the Twisted Unicorn banished him.
