* AngstWhatAngst: Though this is the first time Clain has witnessed [[spoiler:people getting killed]] in Episode 3, Clain is only mildly bothered by the events of the previous episode and quickly regains his composure in Episode 4.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7d-nUG1KEt4&feature=related Fractale - 1st Movement by Sohei Kano.]]
* BaseBreakingCharacter: Applies to several of the characters. In {{Fandom}}, Nessa is either loved or hated. On a lesser note, fans either see Clain as a decent {{audience surrogate}} or annoying in general, and Phryne as an interesting character or [[BitchInSheepsClothing a bitch]]. And then there are viewers who just ''despise'' [[BrattyHalfPint Enri]] for constantly mouthing off that Clain is a pervert, only ''[[ShipTease suddenly]]'' [[ShipTease show concern]] for him in Episode 8.
* CompleteMonster: [[SinisterMinister Barrot]] is one of the highest-ranking figures of the Temple, a society which has enslaved the world to the Fractal System, and is [[TheDragon the second-in-command]] to [[BigBad Archpriestess Moeran]]. By nature a perverted sociopath, Barrot is the current head of the Temple's cloning project, which has manufactured hundreds of thousands of identical clones all under the name of Phryne for the purpose of experimenting on them to see if they are worthy to become the key to restarting the Fractale System; any that do not meet the qualifications are disposed of. Barrot has defiled and disposed of these clones over and over, and fixates on one particular Phryne clone, raising the Phryne [[ParentalSubstitute as his own daughter]] and [[PervertDad subjecting her to sexual attentions]]. After Phryne escapes from the Temple, Barrot orders a wide search for her, fully willing to assault a village linked with Lost Millennium and pay immoral clients should they be capable of turning Phryne in. [[ArchnemesisDad Barrot]] later retrieves Phryne, and forces her into a virginal check under the threat of [[TheHero Clain's]] life, and later boasts that he himself raped Phryne in order to emulate the experiences of Phryne's first body and make her suitable to become the key, gloating that she was "the finest vintage I ever matured." Barrot is {{narcissist}}ic enough to view himself as the world's savior for his immoral research, and takes in any opportunity to soak in his own ego and sick sense of self-satisfaction.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: Nessa. Sunda also gained an increase of fans after a particular badass moment in Episode 10.
* FoeYayShipping:
** Very, ''very'' [[IHaveYouNowMyPretty one]]-[[TermsOfEndangerment sided]] on Barrot's part towards Phryne.
** Between Dias and Moeran [[spoiler:moments before he detonates the explosives his last two friends planted in the room]].
* GeniusBonus: The opening. [[TruthInTelevision Those are all real]] [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fractal well-know examples of fractal structures.]]
%%* GrowingTheBeard: Arguably, [[WhamEpisode Episode 3]].
%%* {{Moe}}: Nessa.
* MoralEventHorizon: Pretty much everyone ''hates'' [[spoiler:Barrot]] for [[spoiler:attempting to force a virginity check on Phryne]] and wants him ''dead'' for [[spoiler:embracing/fondling Phryne and licking her cheek in front of Clain and Nessa, no less.]]
* NightmareFuel: [[NightmareFuel/{{Fractale}} See page entry.]]
* SignatureScene: Phryne falling in Episode 1 is one. It's a scene showed in the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxCu0-RrCoM&feature=related preview]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_ILeLiqak0 commercials]] of ''Anime/{{Fractale}}'' when the title appears.
* {{Squick}}:
** Megan turning out to be [[spoiler:Gail]]'s doppel and [[spoiler:Gail]]'s {{attempted rape}} on [[spoiler:Phryne.]]
** [[spoiler:Barrot hugging (and smelling) Phryne by the stomach and later attempting to check if she is still a virgin.]]
** [[spoiler:It gets worse in Episode 10, where he fondles Phryne in an embrace, licks her cheek, and claims that they're bound by "abundant love." And he does this all in front of Clain and Nessa.]]
* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: Some people feel this way about the anime character designs versus the original promotional ad designs.
%%* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: Again, some people feel this way about the plot itself.
%%* TooCoolToLive: Sunda.
* TheWoobie:
** Nessa in Episode 4 [[spoiler:when it appears Clain accidentally leaves her behind.]] Subverted in that [[spoiler:Nessa turns up on the Lost Millennium airship in Episode 5]], and she easily gets over her disappointment in Clain and her anger towards Phryne during a game of hide-and-seek.
