* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: Most of the soundtrack is bright and happy chiptune music that adds to the game's nature, save for the ominous music for the final area. The credits theme, while very short, is especially upbeat.
* DemonicSpiders: The final level introduces the crows. They home in on you very rapidly, and can even pass through walls! The fact that they're in areas filled with spikes makes avoiding them even more challenging.
* DifficultySpike:
** Things get much harder and scarier once you reach the dark grey spike area [[spoiler: which you can access only if you hit both switches.]]
** The crows make the final area quite a challenge compared to what was before. [[spoiler: Super Cat Planet even has one crow put you in a dodge-fest that requires a surprising amount of skill to get through.]]
* MemeticMutation: Much of the game received a memetic status due to LetsPlay/{{raocow}}'s BreathlessNonSequitur commentary on it. Due to this, it's not uncommon to find people spamming "cat planet" over and over again, at least in posts and comments made around the time of its popularity.
* ScrappyMechanic: Having to beat the game with no saves, and handling the slippery controls. Super Cat Planet allows for checkpoints, thereby averting the former, but the controls are still difficult to handle.
* SurpriseDifficulty: The game seems pretty easy with its bouncy cats and silly fun... [[spoiler:then you come across lava, spikes, and crows that [[TheComputerIsACheatingBastard don't play by the rules.]]]]
* SugarWiki/SweetDreamsFuel: It's a game about collecting cute little cats who say random, usually cheerful things in all lowercase letters, and [[RuleOfFun it's all in good fun]].
