As Riley puts it in season 5, he knows Buffy doesn't love him, though they tried hard to make it work.

In a little bit of continuity, in season seven's "[[Recap/BuffyTheVampireSlayerS7E20Touched Touched]]", after his chip is removed, Spike and Faith fight about Buffy.

Meanwhile, Creator/SarahMichelleGellar not only has to imitate Faith in certain scenes, she has to imitate Faith imitating Buffy while not acting exactly like Buffy.
17	* TakeThatScrappy Faith (in Buffy's body) telling Forrest to stay out of other people's business.
