* AmericansHateTingle: The series is extremely popular in France, but poorly received internationally due to the changes made by Weinstein.
* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: In "Arthur, malédiction", one of the characters finds a human fused to a tree. This ''never'' gets explained.
* BrokenAesop: Malthazard's heinousness comes from him trying to steal Selenia's SacredFirstKiss and marry her along with it, as she has consented to neither. That doesn't stop her from [[spoiler:forcibly kissing Arthur to make sure Malthazard can't have her powers]] without explaining the ramifications of this decision to him or asking [[spoiler:if he consented to be married to her.]] Making matters worse, Arthur's only ten years old and [[spoiler:would not be allowed to consent to marriage in most countries.]]
* SugarWiki/NoProblemWithLicensedGames: The [=PlayStation=] 2 game based on the first film is actually pretty decent. It has rather beautiful graphics and dynamic environments for a [=PS2=]-era game, good voice acting, fun puzzles and a fair bit of unlockable bonus content.
* QuestionableCasting: For some reason ''Madonna'' of all people was cast as the main love interest to the child protagonist.
* {{Squick}}: Arthur and Selenia are a [[GenderFlip gender flipped]] OldManMarryingAChild pairing, with Arthur being ''10'' while Selenia is 1000. Making matters even worse, Arthur wasn't told about the Minimoys' SacredFirstKiss before Selenia kisses him, meaning he didn't consent. The age problem is somewhat subverted in that the years of the Minimoy calendar are much shorter, leading 1000 Minimoy Years to be equivalent to about ten years from the human perspective, but this doesn't change the fact that Selenia's obviously far more mature than Arthur is biologically.
* UnintentionallySympathetic: Malthazard's main motivation in trying to steal Selenia's SacredFirstKiss is to stop himself from ''decaying alive'' after he was essentially [[DateRape date raped]] when he was drunk and given a [[GRatedSex G Rated STD]] that's slowly killing him. It's hard to not feel at least a little sympathy for his plight, even though Selenia's [[BlamingTheVictim response to him]] shows the audience is meant to have NoSympathy.
* WhatDoYouMeanItsForKids: The non-Weinstein release contain a surprising amount of adult humour.
