* AluminumChristmasTrees: Calvin claims that he knows about Arthur's sword Excalibur because "I watch a lot of CNN." CNN did have little trivia tidbits back in the '80s and '90s before commercial breaks.
* FridgeBrilliance: Katy's horrified reaction to Calvin pulling out a tomato for his medieval cheeseburger seems confusing at first. Until you remember that many Europeans feared the tomato for many years (it's a relative of nightshade, which is deadly toxic, so people believed tomatoes were as well... and in fact, the tomato fruit is about the only part of a tomato plant that ''is'' safe to eat). It's actually a small miracle Calvin was able to convince anyone to eat it.
* HilariousinHindsight: A medieval princess [[spoiler: who participates in a tournament herself]] because she refuses to get married? [[{{WesternAnimation/Brave}} Hmm...]]
* HomegrownHero: The eponymous kid happens to be American, getting sent back to pre-medieval England.
* JustHereForGodzilla: The film was released with a new WesternAnimation/MickeyMouse short, WesternAnimation/RunawayBrain, likely a big reason for people to want to see this.
* LesYay: The sisters share some weird moments making both this and IncestYayShipping appear. Like talking on the bed about love, being embarrassed, and overall seeming more like a nervous couple.
* {{Narm}}: The blacksmith managing to make a skateboard and bicycle in the middle ages. It draws much unintended hilarity from the audience. There's suspension of disbelief and then there is this.
* RetroactiveRecognition: Creator/KateWinslet? Creator/DanielCraig? Fancy meeting ''you'' here!
* TookTheBadFilmSeriously: Creator/KateWinslet as one of the two princesses [[spoiler:and the Black Knight]].
