* EnsembleDarkhorse:
** Before she and her team were properly introduced, Outrageous Lime had fans interested in her (the name certainly helped) and even some fanart. Author Creator/MaryCagle remarked on [[https://twitter.com/cubewatermelon/status/941606314060500992 Twitter]]:
--->Outrageous Lime's magical girl power is to be disproportionately popular for someone who only showed up in one panel XD
** Gwen ended up being the most popular of the three members of team Alchemical that bought it, with character popularity polls consistently putting her above Sally and Sylvia -- one poll ended with her in the overall top 10.
** Zoe scored fifth place in the popularity contest held during chapter 9, scoring just ten votes below Gwen and more than 120 votes above the next character down, Bud. This is despite having had only three appearances over the course of the comic by that point. The next poll has her shoot straight up to 3rd place. The comics based on the polls show that even Zoe was surprised by her popularity. She kept the 3rd spot for the third poll, and was joined by her teammate Rue as 4th place.
*** In the 2022 poll, she actually comes in first, beating both Undine and Kokoro. [[ApologizesALot She immediately apologizes for that]].
** Rue and Zoe owned a big portion of the "Goldies" multi-poll. They snagged first spot for Best Team, managing a small lead on the ''actual protagonists'' of the comic. Rue got top spot for Best Outfit, with Zoe getting second. Zoe got a landslide victory for Best Transformation, with Rue just barely losing the second place to Heartful Punch. They only missed out top marks in the Best Powers poll, coming in 3rd and 5th, and didn't get any significant spots in the Best Line poll.
* FanNickname:
** "Goops [=McGee=]" for the purple entity who [[spoiler:killed Undine's team.]]
** The fan names for "the purple one" range from the sublime ("Floor Witch" in reference to [[Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda Zelda's Floor Masters]] and her somewhat casual disregard for how surfaces work) to the ridiculous ("'YOU' in a very angry tone"). Others include [[ComicBook/SinCity "That Purple Witch"]], [[Podcast/TheAdventureZone "The Purple Robe"]], [[VideoGame/ABoyAndHisBlob "A girl and her blob"]] and an unspecified name that [[{{angrish}} "has swears in it."]] Her semi-official name used in favorite-character polls is "Goops," but her actual name, if she has one, hasn't been revealed. The tag used to track pages she appears in just refers to her as 'her'.
** "Goldie" for the golden animal entity who appears to guide the characters to places where something important is happening.
** "The Woman in White" for the person in the Dream.
** "Momdine" and "Dadine"/"Undad" for Undine Wells' parents.
** "Molly B Denum" for [[Webcomic/KiwiBlitz Techno Blitz]]. As Forty-Two is unlikely to be her actual name, since she's a human and not an android, a silly pun on Element 42, Molybdenum, was adopted as her fanon name.
** "Arrowface" for the nameless red magical girl shown... ahem... ''taking issue with'' Zoe attending Future's Promise despite not fighting.
** "Team Just" for the team of Zoe and Rue, both magical girls who don't use titles and go by their first names instead; as such, fans and Phoenix Feet's character polls refer to them as "Magical Girl Just Zoe" and "Magical Girl Just Rue."
** "Keesmas" for July 17, 2020, the day of publication of [[spoiler:Undine and Kokoro]]'s first kiss.
** Tessa Alter for Tessa [[spoiler:post merging with Goops. Goopessa]] is a not as popular alternate, though it's been picking up some steam.
** The slightly unfortunate [[spoiler: Secret Bitch]] for Cassidy after the fact that she was, indeed, that person as named by Cube.
* IronWoobie: Heartful Punch gets entangled with Undine's troubles and gets nearly devoured by a monster because of it, and that's on top of all the "normal" dangers that come from magical girl duty ''and'' [[spoiler:losing her mom at an early age and being estranged from her dad since he doesn't approve of her working as a magical girl]]. Regardless, she takes all of this in stride and keeps on trucking.
-->'''Undine:''' [[https://www.sleeplessdomain.com/comic/chapter-10-page-34 You're too positive...]]
-->'''Undine:''' ...it makes you impossible to argue with.
* MemeticMutation:
** "A good night's sleep is the first step to kicking ass." [[labelnote:Explanation]]At one point, Kokoro says this line. It wound up becoming extremely popular on the series' Creator/{{Discord}} page, so much so that it won Best Line in a [[https://www.sleeplessdomain.com/blog/the-goldies poll-based award ceremony]] hosted by a friend of Cagle's. Cagle admits on the results page that she forgot it was actually something said in the comic due to the line's meme usage supplanting it's original context.[[/labelnote]]
** Cassidiscourse [[labelnote:Explanation]]Since Cassidy's confrontation with Undine in Chapter 14, the mere ''mention'' of Cassidy is certain to create heated debate. Summed up neatly by [[https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/400957650545934337/735620643701129226/Cassidiscourse.png this meme.]][[/labelnote]]
** [[{{WebAnimation/RWBY}} Magical Girl Flash Victim]] [[labelnote:Explanation]]The author Cube Watermelon is a noted detractor of RWBY. In fact, her podcast Podcast/AnimeSlushie originated as a place to talk about RWBY. So, when [[https://www.sleeplessdomain.com/comic/chapter-15-page-11 a shot of Cassidy's team]] showed a girl who looked suspiciously like Weiss Schnee, the reaction was predictable, and when Phoenix Feet (co-host of Anime Slushie) ran the 2020 character poll at least one voter named Weiss as "Magical Girl Flash Victim," after a scene in which Weiss claimed to be a victim in a memetically {{Narm}}y voice.[[/labelnote]]
* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids: The comic follows a similar path as ''Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagica'' in that it starts off appearing like a standard cute MagicalGirl plot only to [[SacrificialLion have a dark twist early on]] and turn out to be a MagicalGirlGenreDeconstruction. Much of ''Sleepless Domain'' is dedicated to how Undine and Tessa try to move past the traumatic event of [[spoiler:the rest of their team getting slaughtered during a routine mission.]]
