* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: There's a reason their self-titled EP/compilation album is so well-regarded.
* CoveredUp: Punk fans will either associate "(I'm Not Your) Stepping Stone" with either them or Music/TheSexPistols - it's somewhat debatable what the "original" is, since it's a Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart composition that was first recorded by The Liverpool Five, first ''released'' by Paul Revere & The Raiders, and first became a hit for Music/TheMonkees, all within the span of a year (1966). Ian himself has admitted that when they first recorded the song, he thought they were covering the Pistols.
* FirstInstallmentWins: Their first two EP's, ''Minor Threat'' and ''In My Eyes'', contain their best-known and best-loved material.
* MisaimedFandom: "Guilty Of Being White" was intended as an anti-racist song, being written about Ian [=MacKaye's=] experiences of being bullied for his skin color in a predominantly black high school, using slavery as an excuse. However, racists have seen the song as a rejection of the notion of white privilege and have adopted it as a white supremacist anthem.
* SignatureSong: "Straight Edge," with "Guilty of Being White" being a close second.
