* {{Anvilicious}}: All of the books have AnAesop, the most common ones being "learning and literacy are good!"
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: The music for the movie is really wonderful and perfectly captures the mood.
* CrossesTheLineTwice: ''Revolutionary War on Sunday'' has Jack freaking out over how George Washington has learned that he and Annie are stowaways just as he's about to cross the Delaware. What really pushes this into this trope is Annie deciding to exclaim "MERRY CHRISTMAS!" to the bewildered future first President of the United States.
* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff: This book series is so popular in Japan that it now has its own anime film.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: "Blizzard on the Blue Moon" has Jack and Annie meeting with apprentices who want to steal Dianthus the unicorn for their master, but neither them nor the master are never brought up in future arcs at all. It would've been interesting to have Jack and Annie actually confront an ''evil'' character throughout an entire story arc, instead of a VillainOfTheWeek structure.
