1	* AngstWhatAngst: Dale Swallows spends the whole film being remarkably unaffected by the multiple tragedies that destroy his family, including [[spoiler:the murder of both his wives, the suicide of one daughter and the other being severely traumatized.]]
2	* {{Applicability}}: The Creature is revealed to have [[spoiler: no penis]] and it's not explained why. Lisa assures him that it's not needed to be a man. This plot point was received very warmly by transgender audiences, for obvious reasons.
3	* CriticalDissonance: Scored a 50% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. Viewers, however, were much more favorable at 83%, giving the movie a sizable following online for its campiness and 80s setting combined with gothic aesthetics.
4	* EnsembleDarkHorse: Taffy gets substantial amount of appreciation for breaking AlphaBitch/[[BigBrotherBully Big Sister Bully]] tropes, and being quite protective and supportive of Lisa.
5	* SugarWiki/HeReallyCanAct: Creator/ColeSprouse gets to show off quite a bit here, due to playing a fully emotive, thinking, and layered person who cannot speak. He does a fantastic job, using his face and body language to covey The Creature's thoughts so well, you have no trouble believing he and Lisa can communicate just fine.
6	* HilariousInHindsight: Although it's most likely unintentional, the choice of background music -- "On the Wings of Love" by Jeffrey Osborne -- when the Creature [[spoiler:chops off Michael's penis as Taffy (Soberano) watches in horror]] can be absolutely hilarious if you know Creator/LizaSoberano's history.[[note]]Soberano was one-half of [[PortmanteauCoupleName [=LizQuen=]]], a "love team" with her real-life partner Enrique Gil. The two were contractually obligated and socially pressured to star in endless films and shows together in the Philippines, as one of the most popular "love teams" in [=2010s=] Philippines. [=JaDine=], consisting of James Reid and Nadine Lustre, were one of their rival love teams. [=JaDine=] starred in 2015's ''[[https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1456666527i/29357818.jpg On the Wings of Love]]'', a bright, wholesome romantic series tailor-made for the Philippines' predominantly Christian audiences. The show was named after Osborne's song and used a cover of it as the theme song. Flash-forward to the 2020s, and Reid has broken free from the love team formula and has even made [[https://philnews.ph/2022/11/09/james-reid-talks-about-being-in-a-love-team-its-unstoppable/ highly controversial statements denouncing the Philippines' love team culture.]] He begins managing none other than Soberano and helps her pursue her Hollywood dreams. Many Filipinos hate on her and express doubt that she will get anywhere in Hollywood. Come 2024, and Soberano makes a splashy Hollywood debut in ''Lisa Frankenstein'' -- where the theme song for her very own manager's career-defining cutesy rom-com is used in a brutally blood-soaked, darkly comical scene that is anything ''but'' wholesome. It almost feels like Soberano and Reid's revenge after many years of being trapped in squeaky-clean Filipino rom-coms.[[/note]]
7	* JustHereForGodzilla: Many Filipino viewers took interest in the film simply because it's Creator/LizaSoberano's Hollywood debut.
8	* SpecialEffectsFailure: Once Doug's hand is attached to The Creature, it's clearly just Cole Sprouse's hand.
9	* TransAudienceInterpretation: [[spoiler:It's never explained why The Creature doesn't have a penis, whether it rotted off or if he never had one to begin with, but many viewers go for the latter interpretation, headcanoning The Creature as a transgender man. Obviously, he wouldn't have had access to bottom surgery in life, but Lisa happily takes care of it for him in undeath. As a bonus, she makes a point of saying that having a penis is "the least important part" of being a man.]]

11	** Lisa's mother was killed in a violent home invasion, the perpetrator never being caught, and she was so traumatized from hearing it happen that she went mute for months afterwards. Only half a year later, her father remarried a woman who obviously hates her, and forced Lisa to change schools. She's lonely, depressed, and treated as an outsider by everyone save for her stepsister Taffy. [[spoiler:Slips into JerkassWoobie as she becomes a murderer, but she never loses her sympathetic edge.]]
12	** Taffy is a sweet girl who's put through the wringer. [[spoiler:Having a SecretRelationship with Lisa's crush without even telling her wasn't nice, but that was the only morally questionable thing Taffy did, and it's clear she really did feel awful about it. She definitely didn't deserve to have her mother and boyfriend killed, the latter right in front of her. Lisa agrees, and gets The Creature to spare Taffy, sincerely apologizing for everything. In the end, Taffy is clearly mourning Lisa as a sister, too.]]
