* ArchivePanic:
** For his 100th episode, Jirard released a poster that amounted to a giant checklist of his first 100 games, challenging everyone to complete them all. He released another after his 200th episode. Completing all those games yourself is panic on its own.
** Jirard flat out admitted he stopped numbering the episodes because it was starting to scare potential viewers off. January 2019 brought the 300th episode with ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosUltimate'', and that's not counting Top Tens and other material. Add to that his other channels, and you'll be busy for a while.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic:
** The intro theme and the cover of "I Believe I Can Fly", during the ''VideoGame/{{inFAMOUS}}'' review stand out.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjowtBh8_Vw&t=449s "Garry's Mod Achievement is Flawed"]] is an AffectionateParody of [[Music/FountainsOfWayne "Stacy's Mom"]] about how a [[ThatOneAchievement certain achievement]][[note]]Yes, I am the real garry![[/note]] in ''VideoGame/GarrysMod'' grinds Jirard's gears.
* BizarroEpisode:
** The time when Jirard completed ''Series/BreakingBad''. His rating? [[spoiler: Murder the Intern-it.]]
** His AprilFools episode on ''Series/BetterCallSaul'' with a similar format.
** The episode on ''VideoGame/StreetFighterTheMovie'' was hosted by Jirard's brother, Jacque.
* BrokenBase:
** Greg's departure. On one hand, there are fans that feel the show can never recover and that Greg was the main source of comedy. Others weren't bothered by his departure, feeling that Jirard can easily hold the show up without Greg, or are even glad Greg is gone, if only to try to get some of the more [[VocalMinority vocal]] of the former to shut up.
** His seeming sponsorship with Nintendo (in which they make him privy to news early as well as provide him free copies of their new releases) has caused some contention in his fanbase. On the one hand some people are thrilled to see Jirard being recognized by one of his favorite video game companies for his efforts, while others are concerned that the relationship with Nintendo is causing Jirard to being biased and turning him into a SellOut. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dI4JAOcKy7o His review]] of ''VideoGame/PaperMarioColorSplash'', itself a very divisive game for fans, caused quite a stir as Jirard seemed way too positive regarding the game, made some questionable comments (one of which was that the ''VideoGame/PaperMario'' series had never been known for comedy, despite it always having been a much more light-hearted and comedic SpinOff of the main franchise), and seemingly glossing over many negatives. In the end, the video to some seemed less like a review and more like a 20-minute infomercial.
** Jirard has stopped spoiling the ending of the games he reviews[[note]]previously, he would play the game all the way through and spoil the ending, but give clear warnings in case viewers wanted to skip it and not be spoiled[[/note]]. Some fans are thrilled since they never liked that he spoiled the endings anyway, while others don't like the change to the format that has been around for years.
** The Top 10 ''VideoGame/DragonQuest'' Games video. Some enjoyed seeing the underrated series represented, while many others were annoyed at the blatant sponsorship shilling with Jirard bringing up ''[[VideoGame/DragonQuestHeroesIITwinKingsAndTheProphecysEnd Dragon Quest Heroes II]]'' in nearly every entry.
** The [[{{Unperson}} Un-Personing]] of Greg in late-2017. By [[ScrewedByTheLawyers Greg's demands]], all videos featuring him were to get retroactively removed from the channel, and Jirard complied, opting to recreate all of them without Greg as a NewGamePlus. This caused a split in the fanbase over whether this was a healthy compromise on Jirard's part or if he should have fought to keep the original videos on the channel. However, as of late 2023, after controversies rose and Greg explained he saw them coming and wanted no part in them, many who still disagreed with Greg's request nonetheless stated they understood where he was coming from.
* DiscreditedMeme:
** "BEARS!" in the ''[[VideoGame/BanjoKazooie Banjo-Tooie]]'' episode, so much so that Jirard forbids Greg from saying it. Most of Greg's commentary during the episode is complete LoopholeAbuse of this until Jirard ultimately goads him into it at the end.
--->'''Jirard:''' [[LampshadeHanging It's not even a joke, it's just us saying the word "BEARS!"]]
** His review of ''VideoGame/FiveNightsAtFreddys'' further emphasizes this. Even with Jirard slightly goading Greg into saying it, Greg doesn't say "BEARS" once during the review. [[spoiler:Although a picture of Banjo's head ''is'' briefly 'shopped on top of Freddy Fazbear's.]]
* HarsherInHindsight:
** Greg's lines in his "death" scene for the ''VideoGame/GunstarHeroes'' review's opening skit are a bit uncomfortable in light of his departure and later enforced removal of all the episodes featuring him.
** At the end of a video he would rate a game by how much people should play it with the lowest being 'donate it'. This can come across a little awkward when it was discovered in 2023 that Jirard's charity 'Open hand' hadn't made a single donation for the better part of 10 years and was hoarding the money given to them by fans. All while Jirard was falsely claiming they had donated it to causes for dementia research.
* HilariousInHindsight:
** In February 2017, Jirard made a Top 10 Unreleased Games, which included ''VideoGame/StarFox2'' among other games. Then, in June of that same year, Nintendo revealed the [[Platform/SuperNintendoEntertainmentSystem Super NES Classic Edition]], which included that game and thus made it available for the first time.
** Back when appearing on ''WebVideo/GameGrumps'', Jirard and Ross had a conversation about ''VideoGame/{{Catherine}}'' and joked that hard mode has a third girl, Catherine with a Q. Come ''[[UpdatedRerelease Catherine Full Body]]'' and one of the big twists is that Rin's full name is Qatherine. The New Game Plus addresses this with Jirard's genuine reaction from his Twitch stream.
** When he reviewed ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTheWindWaker'' HD, Jirard made a lot of jokes about how his dream job is to be a pirate. In the World of IO Dungeons and Dragons setting run by Brett Ultimus, Jirard finally is a pirate as a part of the Miss Demeanor campaign, playing a character named Captain Layton Beardthrone IV.
* JustHereForGodzilla: A lot of people watched the show for Greg and videos that didn't feature him tended to be less popular. This changed after Greg left the show and demanded that Jirard take down every video that included him, which caused the fanbase to turn against him...at least, for a while. After the charity fraud allegations came out, Greg himself said part of why he made that request was because he expected some sort of controversy to happen with Jirard and wanted no part in it. It's still debated whether or not he should've asked for the video removals, but at the very least, even many who disagree with the removal understand where Greg was coming from.
* MemeticMutation: The scandal regarding his charity not donating any of the money it was sent gave rise to numerous jokes about how Jirard has [[RoleEndingMisdemeanor completed his career]].
* NightmareFuel: The ''VideoGame/FiveNightsAtFreddys'' video, despite the NightmareRetardant in the form of Greg, is still ''terrifying''. It even has [[ThisIsGonnaSuck a warning at the beginning...]]
* {{Padding}}: In the review on ''VideoGame/DonkeyKongCountry3DixieKongsDoubleTrouble'', Jirard feels it's necessary to mention that he never played the game as a kid three times in the span of four minutes.
* SeasonalRot: Many people feel the series went downhill after Greg left in 2015, noting that Jirard had trouble keeping the comedic tone afloat considering he had been the OnlySaneMan prior, with their falling out also appearing to diminish Jirard's overall enthusiasm for the series. Greg's loss also resulted in the beloved overarching storylines vanishing from the series, in favor of doing standalone sketches. This feeling of rot was exasperated around late 2016 and early 2017 which saw a vast increase in the number of sponsorships Jirard partook in, with Jirard constantly shilling new games (particularly from Nintendo) at the expense of covering more retro titles when his earlier videos contained a better balance between the old and new. Jirard would also remove the spoiler section from videos around this time to better appease the Website/YouTube algorithm resulting in less nuanced discussions about each game's story. These factors alongside the discontinuation of "Defend It!" and "Why We Love Games", have caused many former fans to accuse Jirard of "selling out".
* SpiritualAdaptation: To an extent, this is a retooled continuation of [[Creator/LordKat Until We Win]].
* UnpopularPopularCharacter: A lot of people liked Greg the best out of all the guys in the show. Jirard himself was VitriolicBestBuds with him and other guys featured in the show don't really like him much. For [[BrokenBase some fans]], his departure marked a downgrade in quality.
* TheWoobie: Jirard is implied to be this in his ''VideoGame/SecretOfMana'' review, where he claims that it is better to play the game with friends but the only problem is you have to have friends in the first place. This became HarsherInHindsight now that him and Greg have had their falling out and are not friends anymore.
