* {{Adorkable}}: [[spoiler:Mr. Prince (the grown up Little Prince), who is now an awkward and jittery young man compared to the ironically more mature boy he was before.]]
* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: The Mother. It's implied that she went through her entire life unprepared and tries to prepare her daughter for Werth to the best of her ability. Despite her doing it the wrong way, The Little Girl doesn't mind the preparation at all and has no problem following the Life plan; when her mother leaves for work, she actually follows the Life Plan willingly and doesn't complain, until she comes across the paper airplane.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: The soundtrack consists almost entirely of SugarWiki/SweetDreamsFuel thanks to composer Music/HansZimmer along with the collaboration of famous French singer Camille, the latter of whom some may be familiar with thanks to ''WesternAnimation/{{Ratatouille}}''. Special mention goes to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZA-Uu6-Fkwo "Turnaround,"]] arguably the loveliest song in the entire soundtrack.
* BrokenBase:
** Some are put off by the book basically only being backstory, with the movie's main plot taking place decades later and focusing on a CanonForeigner.
** The third act of the film, [[spoiler:which serves as a kind of sequel to the book. Some feel its tone doesn't fit with the original story, others think it's a fitting conclusion to the film proper, acting as a way for the Little Girl to sort out her feelings of the book's DownerEnding.]]
** Whether [[spoiler:the Aviator should have died remains somewhat contentious, with some seeing his survival at the end as a cop-out particularly given the original story's famous message in regards to death.]]
* FanNickname: As a result of being a NamelessNarrative, some have taken to calling the little girl "The Little Princess," as her story has clear parallels to that of The Little Prince.
* QuestionableCasting: Creator/JamesFranco as the Fox raised a lot of eyebrows. Even better (worse?) because James Franco was also in [[WesternAnimation/SausageParty Sausage Party]], which also came out the same year.
* SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome: The 2-D and stop-motion animated sections, with their gorgeous fidelity to the source material.
