* AssPull: [[spoiler: In "Those Darn Electabuzz", Don the Charizard dives into the water when Corey and Casey are drowning and saves them, ''even though he can't breathe fire.'' This should've killed Don, but instead he flies out with Casey and Corey. What's even more baffling is that Don can now '''breathe fire again!''']]
* CommonKnowledge: ''Chronicles'' is often treated as a spin-off series on its own right, while in truth that's a result of how it was bundled in the dub. While some episodes ''did'' come from the loosely connected [[https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Side_story_episodes Pocket Monsters Side Stories]] airings from Japan, just as many episodes were simply taken from not-yet-dubbed Japanese specials grouped together under the same umbrella (most notably Anime/TheLegendOfThunder, divided into three parts).
* CultClassic: Though it has its flaws, ''Chronicles'' is seen as an underrated spinoff series with lovable characters and interesting ideas.
* EpilepticTrees: The character of Silver has been speculated to be another candidate for [[WMG/PokemonAshsFather Ash's father.]]
* {{Moe}}: Casey is flat-out '''adorable!'''
** Georgio. Even if he only appears for one episode, he is pretty cute. His rather [[{{Adorkable}} awkward nature]] helps, too.
* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap: Misty's sisters were largely hated in the original series for their BrainlessBeauty natures and inability to take their Gym Leader duties seriously. While Lily and Violet are still hated, this series managed to put Daisy in a better light by giving her CharacterDevelopment and having her actually take her duties seriously, giving her a better reputation as a result.
* TooGoodToLast: With how many supporting characters have been introduced then PutOnABus throughout the anime, some fans wish the series, which centered around doing ADayInTheLimelight stories for Ash's friends and Pokémon no longer traveling with him, had continued.
