* AudienceAlienatingEra:
** His "puppies!" phase is generally considered the lowest point of his career as WWE's color commentator.What's funny is that "puppies!" wasn't invented by him. It occurred in a match between Jeff Jarrett and the "Road Dogg" Jesse James. Jarrett was accompanied by his valet Debra, who was... well-enhanced. James said that if he won the match, "since [he was] the Road Dogg, he wanted to see her puppies!" Doesn't officially qualify for MisBlamed, since King was the one who ran with it. Before then, he played a magnificent heel commentator during his days as a foe against Bret Hart and later was RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap by a combination of him turning face and the switch to PG, as he actually was allowed to use his normal voice again.
** His present-day face announcer role is this for some fans who grew up with (and secretly enjoyed) Lawler's heel-biased announcing in the 1990s.
* CrossesTheLineTwice: From using his mother's death as part of a storyline to constantly making jokes about his own near-death, is there anything that Jerry finds offensive? (And these are just two examples of the last 3 years of his four-decade career.)
* FanNickname: His detractors call him the "Advertising/TheBurgerKing".
* HarsherInHindsight: Jerry Lawler's September 2012 heart attack live on Raw triggered a lot of this:
** In WWE '13 if you are having a match with Eve Torres you'll occasionally hear Jerry Lawler make a comment about needing an EMT at ringside because his "heart skipped a beat." It's fairly cringeworthy when you remember that Lawler had a major heart attack on live TV in September 2012 that nearly killed him. In THQ's defense, the audio commentary had been done for a while at that point and Lawler himself has already made these kinds of jokes following his return, and Lawler was simply trying to say that Eve was hot.
** During a promo segment way back in Memphis Wrestling (against a young Wrestling/JimCornette), he came out from backstage clutching his chest saying "this is the big one!"
*** Even worse when you realize he's imitating Red Foxx of Series/SanfordAndSon who died when his legit heart attack was mistaken for the fake ones his character did.
** The [=#FireLawler=] tweet wave resulting from his face character's questionable reasoning as a commentator. On September 10, 2012, TheGrimReaper nearly did.
** An ironic example occurred in [=WrestleMania=] 28. During the "Team Teddy/Team Johnny" match, Lawler mocked the bright suit that Wrestling/JohnLaurinaitis wore to the ring. He commented that that suit "would give Brother Love a heart attack". While the joke was slightly questionable at the time (Bruce Prichard, who portrayed Brother Love, actually had two heart attacks sometime before the comment), it seems a bit uncomfortable to hear after Lawler's heart attack five months later.
* HoYay: You know how Wrestling/MichaelCole was gay for Wrestling/TheMiz? Lawler was that for Wrestling/TripleH, Wrestling/KurtAngle, Wrestling/RandyOrton, Wrestling/VinceMcMahon, Heel Rock, and pretty much every big-name villain in the WWE while he was a heel.
** He always practically drooled over Chris Masters' entrance as well, forcing Wrestling/JimRoss to be quiet while the music started.
** As a face, he swoons over Wrestling/JohnCena like a lovesick teenaged girl. It got too embarrassing heights when, as Wrestling/CMPunk was getting really hot as a babyface, Lawler sulked over the attention he was getting as he felt the fans should be cheering Cena (who was getting major XPacHeat at the time).
* MemeticMolester: Due to his DirtyOldMan character and the false rape accusation.
* Narm: While it was probably due to DissonantSerenity, it can still be unintentionally funny how blasé he announced his belief that Wrestling/MickFoley was killed when he fell through the roof of the cell in that Hell in the Cell match from King of the Ring '98, especially compared to JR's call of the same moment, or even his own horrified reaction to Mick's earlier fall.
* NeverLiveItDown: Jerry Lawler was arrested for being accused of raping an underage girl. He was let off without any charges when it was discovered she had been lying, but he would be mocked about it at ECW years after the fact. Now you know why ECW has the place it does on his trope list.
