* AccidentalAesop: A lot of fans of some media really care about realism.
* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: Did Rainbow Dash really think that Quibble said "Go over!" or was she just looking for an excuse to get revenge on a guy who had been eating on her nerves all day long?
* BaseBreakingCharacter: While the nitpicking of Quibble Pants was clearly meant to be in the wrong, it's a matter of opinion if the episode succeeded in making him goofy and likeable enough to justify his rants, or if he was just an InsufferableGenius whose smugness was a tad annoying.
* CanonFodder: Daring Do's arch nemesis is Ahuizotl, she has the Amulet of Colhuacan and the Chest of Chicomoztoc, she fended off the spirit form of Xiuhtecuhtli retrieving the amulet, the temple was guarded by the Chipactli, and there are several other references to Myth/AztecMythology in "Daring Don't"...but if Aztec pony mythology is anything like the real thing, these barely scratch the surface.
* DemographicallyInappropriateHumour: The convention sells ''body pillows'' of Daring Do, including one that shows her tied-up, disturbing Rainbow Dash. One of Caballeron's goons apparently buys one, to boot.
* GeniusBonus: The Amulet of Colhuacan, the Cipactli itself and the Seven-Sided Chest of Chicomoztoc are allusions to the CreationMyth of Myth/AztecMythology.
* HilariousInHindsight:
** ''WebVideo/UltraFastPony'' gave its adaptation of "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS3E5MagicDuel Magic Duel]]" the same title as this episode.
** Creator/PattonOswalt has a stand-up routine in which he talks about ''My Little Pony'' and how his daughter watches it and it's one show he doesn't care to watch with her, [[HypocriticalHumor only to very accurately recite a synopsis about the entire series pilot, plus the Cutie Mark Crusaders, with increasing enthusiasm]]. Now he's actually involved with an episode.
** On another note, his character criticizing everything about (what he thinks is) an adventucation. Is he in Equestria or onboard the [[Series/MysteryScienceTheater3000 Satellite of Love]]?
** [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dakimakura Body pillows]] of Daring Do (and the Mane Six and many background ponies) existed long before this episode came out.
** This wouldn't be the last time Creator/PattonOswalt would [[Series/{{Happy}} voice a horse who gets caught up in an adventure with dangerous criminals]].
** The very next year a novel was published with the same title as this episode.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot:
** Twilight visiting Griffonstone would have made for a great episode.
** The meeting between Rainbow and Quibble could have been more interesting if Rainbow had worn a baseball cap and messenger bag similar to the cover of ''Ring of Destiny'' and Quibble had [[YourCostumeNeedsWork pointed out details she didn't get right]].
** Considering Rainbow Dash is even more passionate about the Wonderbolts than she is about Daring Do, and the Aesop of this episode was to accept other people's opinions as different, it may have been better for her to have met someone who thought a different team of stunt fliers were better than the Wonderbolts and would even have made for some good WorldBuilding.
