* CantUnhearIt: With all the memes that spawned from his Across the Spider-Verse incarnation, you’re likely reading the comics in Creator/OscarIsaac’s voice.
* CompleteMonster: See [[Monster/MarvelComics here]].
* FanonDiscontinuity:
** The Marvel Comics Database wiki originally did not consider the Miguel O'Hara introduced in 2013 to be the same character as the Miguel O'Hara of Volume 1, labelling the 2099 seen in ''Superior Spider-Man'' and ''Spider-Verse'' "Earth-[=TRN588=]" to distinguish between it and Earth-928. The reason for this is discrepancies arising from Peter David [[{{Retcon}} disregarding everything]] that happened in Volume 1 after he'd left, though Marvel maintains that all the versions of 2099 are Earth-928 except for the one introduced in ''ComicBook/SecretWars2015'', which was labelled Earth-23291. In 2019 this was amended following the revelation that the post-Peter David issues of ''Spider-Man 2099'' Vol. 1 were set in an alternate timeline called "Earth-96943", and the "Earth-[=TRN588=]" page was merged with Earth-928.
** Owing to Marvel's former stance regarding "possible future" timelines, established in the wake of ''Days of Future Past'' and ''Age of Apocalypse'' -- that they are actually alternate universes and that people traveling back in time are actually dimension-hopping to Earth-616 instead of their own universe's past -- the Marvel Comics Database wiki rejects that Earth-928 -- and by extension other possible future timelines such as the one seen in Jason Aaron's ''Thor'' run -- are part of the same continuity as Earth-616.
* HilariousInHindsight: With a hint of {{irony}}. During his early Spider-Man works, ''Spider-Man 2099'' writer Creator/PeterDavid, working on the advice of fellow writers and editors[[note]]Stern had quit before revealing the identity of the Goblin, he told his solution to his successor Tom [=DeFalco=] who revealed that he didn't like it, and so spun wheels on other candidates and encouraged other writers to do so[[/note]] "revealed" that Ned Leeds was the original Hobgoblin--which several fans thought was questionable given how Leeds died and the original Hobgoblin mystery writer, Creator/RogerStern, came back and revealed that it wasn't the case. [[http://groups.google.com/group/alt.fan.peter-david/msg/4e9186e3c4855006?hl=en& David had intended Father Jennifer to be the (Green) Goblin 2099]], but it was revealed that [[spoiler: Gabriel O'Hara was Goblin 2099 (though this was later retconned to be an imposter)]]. Someone had to appreciate the irony, even if (as the link shows) David himself doesn't. [[spoiler:And much like Stern with Roderick Kingsley, Peter David did ultimately reveal that Jennifer was indeed the Goblin.]]
* IAmNotShazam: Miguel is not actually named or even called "Spider-Man 2099", he is just referred to as Spider-Man who happens to be from the year 2099, long after Peter Parker has died.
* SpiritualAdaptation: ''WesternAnimation/BatmanBeyond'' will be the closest we'll ever get to an animated adaption of ''Spiderman 2099'' with its premise of a rebellious young man from a dystopian cyberpunk future succeeding a popular animal-themed superhero.
