1* AwardSnub: From a certain very limited perspective. Williams's five UsefulNotes/Academy Awards are more than enough to do any career proud. He also holds the record for most Academy Award nominations of any living individual, with 53 most recently for Film/TheFabelmans. While even a nomination is an honor, FridgeLogic dictates that this means he's gone home empty-handed 48 times. Ouch? Technically, it's only been 39 times. He has had two scores from the same year nominated in the same category eight times. This means that, out of his 52 nominations, there were eight of them that he couldn't have won, regardless of if he did win that year, bringing his count of potential Oscars down to 44, unless he tied for the awards. (So far, though, the only instance where he won against himself is 1977, for a certain pair of sci-fi films by Lucas and Spielberg.)
2** An oddity was that his first Oscar win, Theatre/FiddlerOnTheRoof, was technically not a score that he composed, but rearrangements and variations of the musical's songs used as background music. His first nomination, Literature/ValleyOfTheDolls, was a score similarly based on the songs composed for the film by André and Dory Previn.
3* GatewaySeries: A lot of people get into film soundtracks and classical music through him.
4* SacredCow: Is revered amongst many, many, many movie fans and music fans. Even detractors of the movies he's scored have agreed that his compositions are amazing.
