8The land of Turan, the "Upper World," floats above the surface "Lower World." A young woman named Soujourn fights against her destiny to be used as a sacrifice. She resolves to eliminate the dragons whose magic keeps her world afloat.

10The story begins as Caleb, Soujourn's ex-fiancee, pursues her to the city of Atta. Daedalus, the inventor, prevents him from finding her, but his motivation for doing so is unknown.
