Simon Sues is a {{manga}}-style webcomic written and illustrated by Myung Hee Kim.

Simon was on the fast-track to becoming a prominent first-class lawyer. Then he accidentally damned his rival's soul to Hell, thanks to the machinations of a soul-devouring demon. Worse still, the demons have been breaking their own ancient laws and customs to consume souls from the ignorant, while the secret society of lawyers meant to protect mankind from demons has gone corrupt and seek to abuse their power for nefarious purposes. Now, Simon works with a demon huntress and a sorcerer to help those who want to escape a soured DealWithTheDevil, debating and fighting both [[AmoralAttorney Amoral Attorneys]] and the hungering legions of the abyss.

tl;dr: [[CrusadingLawyer Simon]] and [[ReallySevenHundredYearsOld Isaac]] work together to help out people (often students) who want to escape a DealWithTheDevil.

!!Tropes:

%% * BigBrotherInstinct: Simon for Isaac.
* BlackAndGreyMorality: People and Monsters are found on both sides of the human-demon conflict:
** The demon predators con humans into signing an unwinnable contract, so they can devour their souls or torture them for eternity. Some demons are also eager to commit cannibalism on their fellow demons.
** The human contractors perform mass human sacrifices so they can trap desperately starving demons, and then vivisect them or enslave them entirely.
** Some humans are willing to sign a DealWithTheDevil to get justice, some demons only feast on humans because they'll starve to death if they don't.
** The Eight-Eyed One [[spoiler:wants to get revenge on the people who tortured and murdered her human host, and reform the corrupted demon laws that allow all of the above to go unchecked. Unfortunately, she has an addiction to high-quality souls.]]
* BlindWithoutEm: At one point, he can see without them but not read, but at a different point he can't see [[http://simonsues.smackjeeves.com/comics/1451311/occult-training-101-take2-page26/ this]] without them. Although he is hungover and newly awake at the time.
%% * CaughtWithYourPantsDown - Isaac walks in on Simon, who doesn't see him. Doubles as ShipTease.
%% * CrusadingLawyer - The literal premise of the series.
* DealWithTheDevil - The usual suspects. The problem isn't mainly LoopholeAbuse, it's that the demons constantly break ''their own laws'' to get what they want.
%% * DeathsHourglass: One function of Isaac's watch.
* DemonLordsAndArchDevils: Fiends get status according to how strong their pillar of souls is. Isaac's hostfiend calls himself a "prince amongst princes".
** Arch-devils grow in power as they develop new body parts, typically eyes. Amputating one of these parts weakens them dramatically, but decreases their dietary requirements.
* DomesticAbuse: Mia in [[http://simonsues.smackjeeves.com/comics/1469724/docket-85-page01 this arc]].
** [[spoiler: Simon was also abused by his mother. She even killed her other son in front of him.]]
* DramaticallyMissingThePoint: June, [[http://simonsues.smackjeeves.com/comics/1510340/docket-85-page75/ here]], although she is partly right.
%% * {{Fanservice}}: Both Simon and Isaac count as MrFanservice. The bonus comics tend to be made of this.
* {{Fingore}}: [[spoiler:The Eight-Eyed one eats two of Simon's fingers for a penalty in demon court.]]
%% * FloweryElizabethanEnglish: Isaac.
%% * HappilyAdopted: Simon, it seems.
%% * HelloAttorney: Simon.
* KillTheGod: [[spoiler:During the godsmeet of the Pantheon to determine The Eight-Eyed One's guilt, the latter convinces one of the former to turn on his 'colleagues' by threatening to use the ''god-killing weapon'' that she's been found guilty of harboring. That god backstabs the TopGod to death and acquits The Eight-Eyed One on the spot. Enraged by the ''epic'' MiscarriageOfJustice, Halie throws a parasite designed to ''kill gods'' at the traitor, only for it to quickly spread and kill every last god, ending the pantheon in less than five minutes.]]
%% * LikeRealityUnlessNoted
* LivingShadow: How the fiend in [[http://simonsues.smackjeeves.com/chapters/40924/docket-84-case-of-the-prisoners-dilemma this arc]] appears
%% * LongHairedPrettyBoy: Isaac.
* LoopholeAbuse: Demon Contracts have loopholes used for and against them.
%% * MagicallyBindingContract - Deals made with a fiend seem to be this.
%% * ManOfWealthAndTaste: How Isaac's hostfiend appears.
%% * MarkOfTheBeast: Isaac's contract is a living tattoo on his arm.
* MiscarriageOfJustice: One of the most epic in fiction. [[spoiler:The Pantheon holds a trial to determine if the Eight-Eyed One committed, among ''many'' sins, the crime of creating a god-killing weapon]]. The accused then ''waves the illegal murder weapon she is on trial for in their faces'', and threatens to kill them all if they don't declare her innocent of possessing the illegal murder weapon ''that she is possessing right there and then''. One of the judges reacts by ''murdering another'' and gleefully acquitting her of all charges. Simon is found guilty of perjury ''because he told the truth and all the judges know it''. ''Case Closed''. [[spoiler:[[ThenLetMeBeEvil This convinces Halie to go apeshit]] ("Fuck Consequences!") and murder all the remaining gods in one move.]]
* MortonsFork: [[spoiler: If Simon doesn't defeat 99 demons/devils before the two years is up, Isaac will die. If he does, Isaac's hostfiend gets Simon's soul.]]
%% * NotGrowingUpSucks: Isaac gets to be a teenager forever.
* TheOathBreaker: In order to cross into the human world, demons must accept their rulers' Demon Laws. Demons who have been proven to break the Demon Laws become temporary 'outlaws'. This doesn't kill them, but it stuns them with binding scripts and makes them temporarily ''mortal'' - as in, killable by a puny human with a baseball bat.
** Demons who are found guilty of oath-breaking in a demonic court of law are ''eaten alive''.
%% * OccultLawFirm: Inverted.
%% * OddShapedPanel: Used often.
%% * OurDemonsAreDifferent
* ProtectiveCharm: The garter they are hunting in [[http://simonsues.smackjeeves.com/comics/1451286/occult-training-101-take2-page01 this arc.]] Doubles with AncientArtifact, as it's from the [[Myth/NorseMythology Nibelung tale.]]
* RagingStiffie - Both Isaac and Simon in the most recent [[http://simonsues.smackjeeves.com/chapters/48052/bonus-comic-never-too-old bonus comic.]]
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: Isaac is 300+ but appears to be a teenager. Makes him the OlderSidekick.
%% * SleepCute: [[http://simonsues.smackjeeves.com/comics/1451307/occult-training-101-take2-page22/ here]] and on the next page.
%% * ShipTease
%% * StoicSpectacles: Simon.
* TakingYouWithMe: [[spoiler:Simon is eaten by the Eight-Eyed One.]] While he was holding a seed from the WorldTree. The seed grows into a tree within minutes and rips through them both.
%% * TeacherStudentRomance: Simon and Dr Adler were together at one point.
* TentacleRope - Used by Tohm, the fiend in [[http://simonsues.smackjeeves.com/comics/1357911/warning this arc]], along with other tentacle tropes.
%% * TrainingFromHell: How Isaac's hostfiend tests his powers. [[http://simonsues.smackjeeves.com/comics/1451301/occult-training-101-take2-page16/ ]]
%% * {{Tsundere}}: Isaac.
%% * UrbanFantasy
* WhamEpisode: The Eight-Eyed One reveals she [[spoiler:was the inspiration of Jesus Christ (or some other obscure greco-roman sage), and was actually a fusion between a human woman and a demon. They created laws that would balance the human and demon worlds, but were betrayed by both sides for not favoring one over the other, and then mutilated and crucified. As their grand plan for vengeance, they seek to kill everyone upholding the masquerade and rewrite the laws to fix the exploits.]]
