[[WMG: Fraggle Rock is an interdimensional nexus.]]
As mentioned in this article [[https://www.overthinkingit.com/2009/08/14/the-transdimensional-fraggle-threat]].
[[WMG:The theme tune inspired Music/DaftPunk to write Robot Rock]]
Just listen to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dXFWL7l7A0 them]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBbasXXtrXw both]]. Don't they sound similar?
[[WMG:Fraggles reproduce in an unusual way]]
Junior Gorg has a mother and a father. So does Cotterpin Doozer. So Gorgs and Doozers must reproduce like people. But none of the Fraggles have parents. The only older Fraggles are Uncle Traveling Matt and The World's Oldest Fraggle. Obviously, Fraggles are like mayflies, salmon, and 17-year cicadas; creatures that die right after reproducing.
** Then again, the opening theme shows a Fraggle holding a baby Fraggle.
*** It may also just not be a part of Fraggle ''culture'' -- if generations live and play together age might make less of a difference. Mokey's both more mature ''and'' larger than the rest of the Fraggle Five, and is accorded a bit of respect; she could be double their age for all we know. She could even ''be'' somebody's mom.
** It's worse than that. "Gorg" is apparently a species, yet there are only Ma, Pa, and Junior. Not enough for a species. What's more, "Junior" merely indicates that Junior has the same name as his father -- to wit, they are Pa Gorg and Pa Gorg, Jr. ... SOOOOOO at some point Ma and Pa will have another, female child (who we will call Juniora). When Junior and Juniora become adults, Ma and Pa will spontaneously die; Junior and Juniora will marry, have a male child they will name Pa, and the cycle will continue. Millennia of inbreeding explains a LOT about the Gorgs.
*** Maybe there are other Gorgs around, but we can't see them because they haven't been putting on the radish "youth and beauty cream".
*** Maybe there are other Gorgs around, but they live further away; honestly, they could just live a mile away from Ma and Pa and we'd have no clue they existed. Certainly the Gorgs seem to be planning on moving ''somewhere'' when Sir Hubris arrives, so the garden can't be the limits of the Gorgs' world.
*** In the book ''If I Were King of the Universe'', Junior says that when he becomes king he'll rule all the Gorgs ... except they've all gone somewhere and he doesn't know if they'll ever come back. So as far as he's aware, there's ''supposed'' to be other Gorgs.
[[WMG:Fraggles and Doozers evolved from a common ancestor]]
The ancient Fraggles ("Mokey Then and Now") as well as a faraway group of modern Fraggles ("Fraggle Wars") are far more serious-minded than the group of Fraggles we are accustomed to. Meanwhile, the Doozers have a legend of a Doozer who, by singing and playing all day instead of working, became a Fraggle.
* The second part, at least, was {{Jossed}} - Cotterpin ''tried it'', wanting to become a Fraggle. It didn't work, because it was just a Doozer boogieman story.
[[WMG:[[http://muppet.wikia.com/wiki/Sir_Hubris Sir Hubris]] was a Human]]
[[WMG:{{Hobbits}} evolved from Fraggles]]
Fraggles are pure, good-hearted, and in love with life in addition to being physically small. They are somewhat gluttonous, find any excuse to sing and play, are committed to their traditions, and show little to no interest in the outside world, save for a few. The idyllic Fraggle Rock is pretty much an underground Shire, when you look at it closely. "Gobo" even looks like it could be a Hobbit name. Perhaps the Bagginses are descended from his family?
* Since the Third Age is supposed to be aeons in the past and ''Series/FraggleRock'' is set in the eighties, it's more likely that Fraggles evolved from Hobbits.
[[WMG:Cantus and Convincing John are related]]
They’re both extremely charismatic, they both possess strange powers that no one has ever been able to fully explain, and their voices are very similar. What led them to take such divergent paths remains to be seen, however.
[[WMG:There was an entire backstory depicting the history of the Gorgs and the Doozers that the show never got around to addressing before its cancellation]]
Discussion on a (now sadly defunct/replaced) Fraggle Rock fan forum suggested that the shipwreck found off the coast of wherever it is that Doc lives (the ''La '''Gorg'''ola''), the one that contained among its treasures a Doozer helmet made into what was either a (bulky but human-sized) ring or possibly a necklace bauble for a very large creature, was evidence that both Gorgs and Doozers traveled to (and in the case of the Gorgs, through) Fraggle Rock from the world of the Silly Creatures, presumably entering via a larger hole that the current one may be a boarded-up remnant of. It was also speculated that Pa and Ma Gorg or their predecessors were the in-universe inspiration for [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gog_and_Magog Gog and Magog]], an entity or pair of entities sometimes depicted as [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gogmagog_%28folklore%29 one or a pair of giants]]. This, coupled with the strong possibility of Sir Hubris being a human (above) and human legends of giants in general, may point to the show's creators having planned a backstory for the Gorgs (and possibly Doozers) that they either simply never got around to addressing, or wanted the fans to work out for themselves.
[[WMG:Fraggles are [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monotreme monotremes]]]]
An idea that was also floated on the above mentioned fan forum, and based on a couple of known qualities of Fraggles, namely that they appear to have mammalian fur (and possibly beaks, much like platypi, though that's open to interpretation as it could just as easily be simply a factor of the way the puppets are designed/made), and that they supposedly lay eggs (a fact that turned up mostly in supplemental material, though the Storyteller did mention a fraggle as having been "hatched" in one episode).
[[WMG:Baloobiuses are a survival mechanism]]
"Baloobius" being the in-universe word for a Fraggle's tail-tuft, which flares out when said Fraggle is scared or startled. Baloobiuses are, notably, usually the same colour as the "hair" on a Fraggle's head. This lead to the speculation (once more, on the above-mentioned forum) that it served a similar purpose to the detachable tail of a gecko, except that instead of predators latching onto and causing the loss of the entire tail, predators are simply fooled into going for the nearer fake "head" at the tip of the tail as the Fraggle turns to flee, ending up with nothing but a mouthful of fluff (and if you've ever tried to get hairs out from under your lip and between your teeth, you know how distracting this can be), which the Fraggle most likely then re-sprouts over time.
** ''Back to the Rock'' muddies this theory, when it's revealed that some Fraggles (Boober and Creator/CynthiaErivo's character, at least) produce a bioluminescent glow from their baloobiuses. According to Cynthia Erivo's character, this glow happens when a Fraggle is most at peace with themselves. Good for a children's show teaching a lesson about self-acceptance; bad for avoiding predators. (Though perhaps that's ''why'' the glowing baloobius is so rare; natural selection at work.)
[[WMG:''Back To The Rock'' will finally clarify where Fraggles come from]]
The original series, as mentioned above, was originally going to show that fraggles hatch from eggs, but decided to avoid the topic of where the fraggles come from. This included the removal of any baby fraggles outside the theme song. It appears that ''Back to the Rock'' has allowed background fraggles to hold babies again, meaning the decision has been overturned. As such, it is likely that at some point in the reboot we will get a concrete answer to how fraggles are born, which in order to accommodate them apparently "hatching" while not knowing what an egg is will likely be fantastical. Maybe they hatch from the rock itself?
** Jossed. The subject isn't even raised. We ''do,'' however, see how Merggles are born.
[[WMG:Uncle Matt is a bank robber.]]
How does he get the money to ship Gobo postcards, and in ''Back to the Rock'', "artifacts"? Well, fraggles don't seem to have a concept of money, as it is never mentioned by them in any episode. So he frequently breaks into the "green paper farm" as he calls the bank and steals the hard earned cash of many unfortunate silly creatures, not seeing any wrong as he thinks money is a sustainable natural resource not owned by anyone.
** It appears that my theory has been Jossed in the strangest place possible: [[https://youtu.be/T3MF-5ZWJwA this interview]] with ''Tough Pigs'' where he states that he simply drops off packages directly into Doc's mailbox.
[[WMG: The Fraggle Rock theorem]]
This is a theory I created to explain some of the plot holes in Fraggle Rock, particularly in relation to the Gorgs', such as their location relative to Outer Space and their "kingdom". I devised this for a Fraggle Rock movie script fanfic I wrote, but it is now the official headcanon I have created to explain the enter series. Bear with me, as it's a bit long.
So basically, the Gorgs' garden isn't connected to Outer Space at all. It's located on a small island in a very remote part of the ocean, which is inhabited by the Gorgs, and other strange animals like the Trash Heap and Philo and Gunge. The island is both small and remote enough that it has never been discovered by humans. In olden times, there were Gorgs on the island, and the Gorg royal family (from whom Ma, Pa, and Junior are descended), who ruled it, believed that the island was the entire world, hence their belief that they are "the kings of the universe", since to them, the Gorg island ''is'' their universe.
Now, as to Fraggle Rock itself. Fraggle Rock is geographically located in North America. It is physically connected to Doc and Sprocket's house, but not to the Gorgs' garden. It is only connected to the Gorgs' island because the Gorgs know about the Fraggles, and believe in them. You see, all you have to do is believe in the Fraggles, to know they exist, and Fraggle Rock will follow you, and a portal to the Rock will appear in your home. Hence why Doc and Sprocket's new house also had a Fraggle hole in the final episode, or why Fozzie Bear's mother's house had one in ''Film/AMuppetFamilyChristmas'' (since Doc and Sprocket, who knew about the Fraggles, were staying at the house at the time). Thus, Doc and Sprocket's house will still contain a Fraggle hole after they both die and someone who doesn't know about the Fraggles moves in, because the Rock is physically connected to the house, but the one in Fozzie's mom's home disappeared as soon as Doc and Sprocket left, and the one in Doc and Sprocket's new house will disappear when they die or move out. As for the Gorgs, Fraggle Rock will stay connected to them for as long as they live in the garden, since they believe in the Fragles, but if the three Gorgs were to all die, or even just leave the island, Fraggle Rock would no longer be connected to them, and boom! No more radishes for the Fraggles.
BTW this theory only stands for the original show, since ''Series/FraggleRockBackToTheRock'' is set in a different continuity and also, I haven't seen it.
[[WMG: The reason humans aren't surprised to see Travelling Matt in Outer Space]]
Now, I'm sure most of you watching the show have thought once or twice about how little sense it makes that none of the humans, or "Silly Creatures", are ever surprised to see Uncle Travelling Matt, who clearly isn't human, walking around in the middle of major cities and directly interacting with them. But what if this is because creatures like the Fraggles are known to humans in the world of ''Fraggle Rock?"
You see, in 1987 a Christmas special called ''Film/AMuppetFamilyChristmas'' was released, in which the Fraggles (and Doc and Sprocket) appear alongside characters from ''Series/TheMuppetShow'' and ''Series/SesameStreet''. Unless this special can somehow be proven non-canon to ''Fraggle Rock'' (it's clearly canon to ''The Muppet Show''), this would seem to imply that the Muppets exist in the world of Fraggle Rock. And given what we've seen in various Muppet films and shows, they're clearly famous. Now, if you lived in a world where a group of talking frogs and pigs and chickens and whatnot had their own successful stage show, and starred in films, and there was a whole street in New York City inhabited by bizarre monsters, and a giant bird, and a mammoth, and a vampire, and so on, would you really be that surprised to see a two-foot-tall Fraggle walking around outside? Of course not. Strange creatures like the Muppets and Fraggles are commonplace in the Henson Shared Universe and thus, while Matt may find the Silly Creatures strange, they don't find anything odd about him at all.
(BTW if you find anything wrong with this theory please reply to this post and let me know).
** Actually, rather than anything wrong with the theory, there are other stuff that actually supports this. One episode, Sir Hubris and the Gorgs, had trick or treaters, two of them dressed up as Kermit and Piggy. Also, Matt also appears in the wedding scene in Muppets Take Manhattan.
[[WMG: Somewhere there are portals leading into [[Film/TheDarkCrystal Thra]] and the Film/{{Labyrinth}}.]]
We see fizzgigs a couple of times in the show and once Uncle Travelling Matt showed up as a guest at a fancy party at Jareth's Castle in volume 1 of ''Manga/ReturnToLabyrinth'' so this would imply the two worlds are connected to Fraggle Rock as well.
[[WMG: Fraggles are distantly descended from the same common ancestor as [[Film/TheDarkCrystal Gelflings]].]]
