In [[VideoGame/ResidentEvil1 July 1998]] a week of horror is heralded by a secret laboratory located deep beneath the Spencer Mansion undergoing a containment breach; Umbrella's questionable experiments have broken loose killing a majority of the staff, and begun to spread outward into the deep woods located on the Arklay Mountains, threatening the safety of the nearby Raccoon City. Desperate to keep Umbrella's nightmarish actions secret, Umbrella's Board of Directors has authorized a squad of elite U.S.S commandos to perform a cleanup operation with two simple objectives; destroy all evidence of Umbrella's wrongdoings and [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness silence any surviving Umbrella employees.]]

[[VillainProtagonist You fill the shoes of that squad.]] The player takes the role of veteran U.S.S [[VideoGame/ResidentEvil2 Captain HUNK]] and rookie infantryman [[VideoGame/ResidentEvil2Remake GHOST]].

''Resident Evil: Containment'' is a [[https://www.moddb.com/mods/resident-evil-containment Total Conversion Mod]] of ''Resident Evil 1'', by Aydan; featuring the exploits of an Umbrella Security Service Squad during the height of Mansion Incident. It includes massive changes to the environments of the Spencer Estate, entirely new areas, enhanced mechanics, new monsters, new weapons, new puzzles, and a completely original story with new cutscenes and fully-voiced dialogue.

The game is complete, with ''Prologue'', ''Chapter 1'', ''2,'' ''3'' and ''4.'' available to play.

----
!!''Resident Evil: Containment'' contains the following tropes:

* ActionPrologue: The "prologue" grants the player an assault rifle with infinite ammunition and much more zombies then the actual game during the initial assault on the labs; both of these factors are taken away as soon as the mod proper begins.
* AffablyEvil: HUNK is a cold blooded Special Forces soldier, but he's pleasant enough around GHOST, whom he treats like a comrade. And Ghost himself counts. [[spoiler: Turns out Hunk [[PragmaticVillainy just wanted Ghost to plow the road so he could eliminate any survivors left in the mansion,]] then [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness kill Ghost afterward]], but he remains insistent it's NothingPersonal, and upon noticing he completely outguns Ghost, he [[LetsFightLikeGentlemen throws down his rifle and switches to his combat knife to make things fair.]] ]]
* AntiHero: In contrast to HUNK wanting to complete his orders (which involves ''murdering'' innocent scientists), Ghost, while ruthless, simply [[spoiler: wants to find his sister.]]
* BossInMooksClothing: [[spoiler: The horrifying Crimson Head Elders, who are encountered at the end of the first chapter in the "bloody prison" section of the underground, are similar in appearance to the regular Crimson Heads (they have a different texture), but are stronger, faster, and have more health. You fight them as a DuelBoss.]]
* CanonImmigrant: Many from the ''Remakes''.
** Ghost, the main player character, despite the mod taking place in the original trilogy continuity, is straight from ''VideoGame/ResidentEvil2Remake''.
** The Crimson Heads, which have ever been only featured in ''Remake 1'', are the terrifying EliteMooks of the early game.
** HUNK's [[AffablyEvil warmer]] characterisation is from ''Remake 2''.
** [[spoiler: Trent]] from [[Literature/ResidentEvil the novels]] shows up in Episode 3 to heal Ghost's injuries and give him the keycard to the Guardhouse.
** The Ivy Zombies from ''VideoGame/ResidentEvil2Remake'' start showing up in the later half of Episode 3 to haunt Ghost in the Guardhouse.
** [[spoiler: [[ResidentEvilRemake Lisa Trevor]] ]] herself is Chapter 2's boss fight.
* DarknessEqualsDeath: The lights are out in the Spencer Mansion, forcing Ghost to be extra cautious. It's much harder for the player to see zombies coming and they only make noise when alerted to the player's presence. He can't even go far into the main hall due to being even darker than the rest of the mansion.
* DoomedHurtGuy: Ghost finds a wounded scientist in the mansion in Episode 2, who informs him where the other survivors might be. He offers Ghost an important MacGuffin in exchange for a med kit [[spoiler: But is shot by a mysterious assailant shortly after Ghost uses it]].
* EliteMook:
** The infamous Crimson Heads; more or less "stage 2" infected whose prolonged infection to the T-Virus has made them far stronger then a regular zombie; they can ''sprint'' across the room in a second (the player is ''barely'' able to outrun them in a full sprint, lunge at the player with dangerous leaps, and hit far stronger and faster then a normal zombie. Due to engine limitations, however, ''thankfully'' they do not retain their original Remake's ability to spawn from normal, dead zombies.
** The Ivy Zombies are alot more dangerous then the usual Zombie, retaining their counterparts ability in the Remake to deliver a OneHitKill if you let them grab you.
* FinalBoss: [[spoiler: HUNK is the final obstacle, and you fight him one on one, knives only.]]
* HoldTheLine: The final set piece of Chapter 3 has Ghost [[spoiler: protecting his sister while she gets to work on lock-picking a series of gates; all the while their being swarmed by Hunter-like man-bugs.]]
* MadeOfIron: {{Downplayed}} compared to her InvincibleBoogeyman self in the ''Remake'', but [[spoiler: Lisa Trevor]] takes ''alot'' of bullets before retreating.
* MirrorBoss: [[spoiler: HUNK fights just like a knife-equipped PlayerCharacter in his boss fight.]]
* MythologyGag:
** Ghost's pose in the title screen is more than reminiscent of Chris's pose in [[AmericanKirbyIsHardcore the original game's American box art]].
** Speaking of which, Ghost special "injured" model at the start of Chapter 3 is piece for piece a recreation of his appearance in his debut Ghost Survivors mission for ''Remake 2''; complete with tears in his uniform, and his iconic BrokenFaceplate.
* NoGearLevel: Episode 3 begins with Ghost recovering from a nasty fall that broke both his handgun and shotgun and left him in Danger state...in a forest full of ''zombie dogs.''
* OptionalBoss: The [[GiantSpider Giant Tarantula]] tucked away in the lighthouse in Chapter 3 does not need to be fought.
* PreRenderedGraphics: Besides the actual environments, the game features custom (and ''very'' impressive) FMV cutscenes at the end of each chapter in the style of the original ''Resident Evil''.
* TheStinger: After the credits, the player is given an FMV cutscene [[spoiler: depicting a battered, but still very much alive HUNK rising from the ground.]]
