''Bowser's Last Stand'' is a ''Franchise/SuperMarioBros'' fan-game by Onpon starring Bowser, the series BigBad, as the VillainProtagonist out to conquer the Mushroom Kingdom. It takes inspiration from ''Super Mario Bros. 1'' and ''3'' as well as another fan-game, ''Super Mario Bros XP''.

Bowser, having gained some new tricks up his sleeve, goes forward to try and defeat the Mario Bros. once and for all. However, before he can even leave his castle, several Toads show up and declare his reign to be over, having used clones of Bowser, which they have dubbed Megabowsers, to take over the Koopa Kingdom. Incredulous, Bowser fights this new-formed militia, then proceeds to take back all the other castles under Mushroom Kingdom occupation on his journey to defeat the brothers. But his minions seem to be keeping something from him…

----
!! This game provides examples of:
* ADayInTheLimelight: For Bowser, the BigBad of the Mario series, as he is the protagonist on a journey to take back his Kingdom.
* AncientConspiracy: [[spoiler:Death Cap, the shadowy organization which rose up to take over the Mushroom Kingdom and soon set its sights on the Koopa Kingdom.]]
* AWinnerIsYou: A simple "Game Won" screen at the end of [[spoiler:World 666]]. Bowser isn't amused.
* BigBad: Bowser himself, now the VillainProtagonist, aims to take back his stolen castles from the Mushroom Kingdom and defeat the Mario Bros. for good. [[spoiler:However, the real villain is the unnamed leader of [[AncientConspiracy Death Cap]], the organization that took over the Mushroom Kingdom and the Koopa Kingdom.]]
* BlatantLies: When confronted by Bowser, [[spoiler:the leader of Death Cap]] claims to be a powerful wizard that can destroy Bowser despite clearly being an ordinary toad and nervously stuttering as he says this. Bowser doesn't buy it for a second.
* BreathWeapon: Bowser has his trademark fireballs, which he can spit at a downward angle as well as straight ahead.
* BrutalBonusLevel: [[spoiler:World [[NumberOfTheBeast 666]], available by typing "HZONE" at the title screen after beating the normal game.]]
* CutsceneBoss: After beating the actual final boss, the last Megabowser, Bowser fights [[spoiler:the leader of Death Cap, who is just another ordinary toad who gets roasted by Bowser. Twice. Even after claiming he was [[BlatantLies a powerful wizard]]]]. Bowser, of course, couldn't let this go without lampshading.
* GroundPound: One of Bowser's moves, which is needed to get past barriers in the ground.
* LampshadeHanging: Bowser [[BetterThanABareBulb loves]] to indulge in this. An early example is when he first meets the Mushroom Militia and wonders, "Since when did Peach get an army?"
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: [[spoiler:The AncientConspiracy behind the takeover of both kingdoms is called Death Cap.]]
* NominalHero: [[spoiler:Bowser winds up saving the Mushroom Kingdom from [[AncientConspiracy Death Cap]], but only because he was taking back his own kingdom from them.]]
* NonActionBigBad: [[spoiler:The leader of Death Cap, an AncientConspiracy which has taken over the Mushroom Kingdom and the Koopa Kingdom, is an ordinary toad who is quickly roasted by Bowser.]]
* NumberOfTheBeast: After beating the game once, [[spoiler:[[BrutalBonusLevel World 666]] becomes available]].
* PostFinalBoss: After the last Megabowser, a tough FinalBoss, [[spoiler:the leader of Death Cap]] is a CutsceneBoss quickly taken down by Bowser.
* ShoutOut: [[spoiler:World 666, the game's BrutalBonusLevel, is not actually World 666 internally, but rather World 66-6; it appears as "666" on the screen due to a defect in the way the game renders the level numbers. This is a reference to Minus World from ''VideoGame/SuperMarioBros1'', which is internally World 36-1.]]
* VillainProtagonist: Bowser, the BigBad of the Mario series, is the player character on a quest to take back his castles from Mushroom Kingdom occupation and defeat the Mario brothers.
* YouKeepUsingThatWord: One of the Koopas Bowser frees greets him with the title, "Your Malodorousness." What he doesn't realize is that "malodorous" does not mean "evil", but rather "stinky". Bowser takes exception to that.
