'''Knights of the Round Revenge''' is a fan made BeatEmUp created for the MediaNotes/OpenBOR engine by Jeremiah Cuff, the founder and developer of ''Danksmith Games'' and is the sequel of the Creator/{{Capcom}} arcade game ''VideoGame/KnightsOfTheRound''.

After dethroning the evil knight Garibaldi and recovering the holy grail from the events of the arcade game, King Arthur Pendragon alongside his round table knights ruled UsefulNotes/{{England}} peacefully [[TimeSkip fifteen years later]]. Blood Armor Muramasa (having bore a grudge against the knights for his master's defeat) wanted payback and went out of his way to wreak havoc across the land, leading Arthur to send his best knight Gawain and the newcomer Gong Meimei to investigate the rogue samurai's rampant activities.

A surprising departure from the arcade game as the players are given the option to choose from 10 playable characters as they fight their way through 8 stages in a dramatic storyline involving the round table knights' struggle against Muramasa throughout medieval UsefulNotes/{{Europe}}. Unique move sets are also introduced for the heroes to utilize against multiple enemies during gameplay, however they require MP (magic points) meter to use instead of [[CastFromHitPoints draining the player's life]].

The following MediaNotes/OpenBOR sequel ''VideoGame/KnightsOfTheRoundAnnihilation'' was created four years later in June 24, 2020.

!! This fan game provide examples of:

* AlasPoorVillain: Muramasa unfortunately, he may have caused most of the problems throughout the story, but in reality, he had no real interest in helping Arlon with his rebellion and just wanted to challenge King Arthur to one last fight. [[spoiler: [[NobleDemon Muramasa also displayed enough honor to release Sir Gawain and his final orders to Ayame and Xiahou was to defect to the round table knights before he finally perished.]]]]
* ArtisticLicenseGeography: several stages in the game has plenty examples:
** UsefulNotes/{{Cornwall}} in real life is a ceremonial town located in the UsefulNotes/{{TheWestCountry}} of the UsefulNotes/{{United Kingdom}}, [[spoiler: stage 3 portrays it as [[DoomedHometown a small medieval village that is being terrorized by the rebel forces]] led by a rogue knight named Garland.]]
** Solsbury Hill is a historical tiny flat-top summit that is located above the village area of Batheaston in Somerset, England, it is also serves as a legendary site that was built during the Iron Age. [[spoiler: It's portrayal in stage 6 is a deep forest littered with castle ruins that is used as a hideout by a battalion of ninjas.]]
** Windermere is depicted as a mountain area in stage 7 and stage 3 in Muramasa's story, [[spoiler: but the location in reality is actually a massive southern lakeside district made up of a chain of eighteen islands.]]
* AnIcePerson: Sir Tristan's release attack involves him calling Merlin to freeze his foes with a good ol' ice storm.
* AntiVillain: Both Ayame and Xiahou during the ''Calamity Within Camelot'' and ''Muramasa's Revengeance'' storylines, as the cutscenes showed them having no ill will towards Arthur and his companions after Muramasa abducted Sir Gawain and are only following his orders. [[spoiler:They eventually helped the round table knights stop Arlon's hostile takeover of Tintagel Castle.]]
* BareFistedMonk: Gong Meimei, one of the new characters for the game, uses martial arts and [[KiAttacks ki techniques]] to take down her enemies.
* BarBrawl: The entire premise of stage 5, [[MoodWhiplash where the story takes a darker turn]] [[spoiler: when Gong Meimei is ambushed by Muramasa and his lackeys at the tavern of Cornwall.]]
* BleakLevel: The second stage ''Black Wyvern Attacks!!'' is where the rescue party searching for Gawain are terrorized by a black dragon on a war-torn battlefield.
* BatmanGambit: Arlon's plan later on in the story [[spoiler:was to distract King Arthur and round table knights with their crusade against Muramasa long enough for his rebel forces to easily invade the capital of Tintagel Castle and seize the holy grail without a hitch]].
* BigBad: The Silver Emperor himself naturally, as his antagonism towards the round table knights by abducting Sir Gawain along with his desire to obtain the holy grail is what drives the plot of the ''Calamity Within Camelot'' storyline.
* BigDamnHeroes: Lancelot and Perceval show up as NPC allies for Gong Meimei to deal with Muramasa in stage 5.
* BittersweetEnding: Arthur and his friends have slew Arlon and the giant rebellion the latter has caused throughout England have been quelled, [[spoiler: but Muramasa was killed by the round table knights which led his subordinates Ayame and Hong Xiahou to join the king's forces, and ten years later in the next fan game, [[FromBadToWorse Arthur ends up dealing with another chaotic problem...... his powerful half-sister Morgana Le Fay]]]].
* BringIt: Said by Muramasa before he and Gong Meimei duke it out in the cutscene of stage 5.
-->'''Gong Meimei:''' The only way you're going to reach my liege for his Excalibur, and that's over my dead body!! Now put em' up you scum!!
-->'''Muramasa:''' The pleasure is all mine, you foolish girl!!
* CastingAShadow: The majority of Sir Tristan's special attacks involve him either kicking up a geyser of darkness from the ground, calling Merlin to conjure up a [[TechnicolorFire wave of purple flames]], or fire a massive hand wave of psychedelic energy to zap his opponents. Which kind of make sense given that [[spoiler:he's also the ninja-like sword jester Phantom the Nightshade in the previous game]].
** One of Muramasa's attacks is a heavy overhead slash infused with over worldly dark energy that can electrocute his victims.
* CoolBigSis: Gong Meimei is this to Lancelot and Lady Elaine's son Kid Galahad as seen in the opening cutscene of stage 4.
* DarkerAndEdgier: Unlike the arcade game, the fan sequel has a more serious and dramatic tone as the heroes have to deal with one of their knights abducted by the villains and a mysterious revolt has occured within the realm of England which [[spoiler:ends with the Silver Emperor successfully taken over the capitol of Tintagel Castle, and he would have killed Queen Guinevere and Princess Elaine to forcefully claim the holy grail had not Arthur and his round table knights rushed back in time to stop him]].
* DeathFromAbove: Xiahou's second release attack ''Expelling Heaven and Earth'' is him performing a brief chant that causes a very GIGANTIC cauldron to drop from the sky and flatten his unfortunate victims like pancakes.
* DishingOutDirt: Most of Perceval's special moves including his super attack produce small glittering energy geysers that violently elevates the unfortunate enemies in mid-air, causing them to crash land to the ground with a sickening thud.
** One of the giant monk Xiahou's mega crush moves ''Mystical Commandment: Spring'' has him punch the ground to produce multiple small stalagmites around him to knock enemies away.
* DistressedDude: The cutscene for stage 5 reveals that [[spoiler: Muramasa had Sir Gawain kidnapped upon knocking him out off-screen, and stage 7 has the round table knights trekking the mountains of Windermere to rescue him from the rebel army.]]
* DiscOneFinalBoss: [[spoiler: Blood Armor Muramasa ultimately turned out to be this as Arlon's endgame was to invade Tintagel Castle to get his hands on the holy grail, using the samurai as a diversion.]]
* FaceHeelTurn: Garland used to be Mordred's brother-in-arms within his mercenary group, [[spoiler: until he joined the rebel army to prevent Muramasa from killing the latter.]]
* GiantSpaceFleaOutOfNowhere: The black wyvern, the boss from stage 2, is this most likely, as no one including the round table knights knows whatever the reason an acid spitting dragon had made it's presence around a ravaged battlefield.
** [[spoiler: Subverted in the ''Muramasa's Revengeance'' storyline, as the dragon originally resided in the mountain area of Windermere until Arlon and Muramasa got ahold of it to use as an attack dog.]]
* TheLostWoods: Stage 6 takes place in one that is surrounded by large castle ruins inhabited by a group of ninjas lying in wait to ambush the heroes.
* MakingASplash: Xiahou's ''Mystical Commandment: Winter'' move causes the monk to unleash small waves of water that travels forward to wash his foes away.
* PlayingWithFire: Some of Arthur's special attacks summons Merlin to unleash columns of flame, cast a ground barrage of fire, or create a blazing dragon to burn his foes.
** One of Gong Meimei's strongest moves ''Divinity of Merlin'' has the old wizard call forth a series of spiraling energy dragons that subjects her enemies with severe immolation.
** The playable Muramasa lacks the stronger fire magic abilities from his arcade counterpart, but he is given a few weaker pyrokinetic attacks.
** Xiahou's ''Mystical Commandment: Summer'' move has him fire multiple spheres of flame at his foes.
* ShockAndAwe: The majority of Lancelot's attacks revolve around this, making him a LightningBruiser.
** Muramasa's release attack ''Empty Renunciation of the Netherworld'' is him conjuring a thunderstorm made of a [[CastingAShadow sinister over worldly glow]].
** Sir Bedivere's ''Celestial Purge'' move causes him to swing his claymore diagonally, unleashing a trailing thunderbolt to zap enemies in front of him.
* RapidFireFisticuffs: One of Gong Meimei's strongest attacks have this.
* RecycledSoundtrack: The music tracks of ''VideoGame/DynastyWarriors'', ''VideoGame/CrisisCore'', ''VideoGame/VirtuaFighter'', and ''VideoGame/SonicAndTheBlackKnight'' were used in the stages of this fan game.
* {{Revenge}}: The motivation of both Arlon and Muramasa is to get even with King Arthur and take over England after [[spoiler:he ended the life of the tyrant Garibaldi from the arcade game.]]
* SlippySlideyIceWorld: The fourth stage takes place in the countryside of Caldwell near a icy mountaintop where the player encounters the [[NotQuiteDead still alive Balbars]].
* StormingTheCastle: The final stage, where the round table knights rush back to Arthur's home castle that is in the process of being taken over by Arlon's forces.
* TheStinger: The post credits cutscene reveals that [[spoiler:Morgana Le Fay was pulling the Silver Emperor's strings the whole time, and now because of his failure, she decides to take matters in her own hands to claim the {{holy grail}} for herself, setting up the events for ''Annihilation''.]]
* ThoseTwoGuys: Both Arlon's subordinates Accalon and Vortigern are this, as they serve as obstacles for Arthur and his knights to face and are fought together ''twice'' throughout the game. [[spoiler:''Muramasa Revengeance'' shows that both men originally started out as wandering bandits, until the crimson samurai mopped the floor with them, which led the formers to be enlisted to the Silver Emperor's cause.]]
* UpdatedRerelease: The recent Xtreme Legends expansion for the original fan sequel is this, as the new characters from ''Annihilation'' are reintroduced to being playable to both the ''Calamity Within Camelot'' and ''Muramasa's Revengeance'' story campaigns. The cutscenes along with the spritework of Arthur, Lancelot, and Perceval have been redone, bonus stages are included in the main story, with a new feature "Free Battle Quest" also added to the game.
* VillainEpisode: The story campaign ''Muramasa's Revengeance'' takes place three days before the main storyline and focuses entirely on the titular Japanese warrior [[spoiler: when the Silver Emperor sends him and his subordinates on a mission to recruit generals for his rebel army.]]
