3	Solomon Islands (not [[InsistentTerminology “THE Solomon Islands”]]) is a country east of New Guinea, consisting of six main islands and almost a thousand smaller ones.

5	The country was a colony of the UsefulNotes/UnitedKingdom for a long time and it saw a lot of action during UsefulNotes/WorldWarII (most famously, the Guadalcanal campaign). It declared independence in 1978, but ethnic tensions made it devolve into a civil war that ended in 2006 only with the ousting of the Prime Minister.
