* There are quite a few in ''WesternAnimation/AdventureTime.'' Notably, there's Incendium, when Finn is rejected by Princess Bubblegum. There's also Too Young, when Lemongrab does this after Finn and PB beat him up.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheAmazingWorldOfGumball'': In "[[Recap/TheAmazingWorldOfGumballS4E21TheGirlfriend The Girlfriend]]", Jamie (who has been fixated on forcibly making Gumball her boyfriend during the episode, to everyone's horror) corners Gumball in the library, and he briefly crawls into a fetal position while sucking his thumb and calling out for Darwin's help.
* ''WesternAnimation/AsToldByGinger'':
** Ginger does the Troubled Fetal Position a few times, especially in the episode where she and Darien broke up.
** Considering how socially awkward and shy Macie is, she often ends curled up.
* ''WesternAnimation/BigHero6TheSeries'':
** Wasabi goes into one during "Fear Not" after he learns that he's been selected as a teaching assistant for SFIT's optics class.
--->'''Go Go''': Wasabi went into ball mode.
** Krei seems to go into this position a lot when he's scared. Considering how many villains attack him in the series, can you really blame him?
* ''WesternAnimation/CodeLyoko'':
** Aelita, from times to times.
** Odd had one in "Tip-Top Shape" when he was about to die. He got better.
** Ulrich in "Cold War" when he thought that Yumi died and he saw that he had no way to call Jeremie.
* Happens to Sheila in the ''WesternAnimation/DungeonsAndDragons1983'' series, when she faces [[WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes her biggest fear ever]]: being completely alone.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddParents'':
** In one of the original ''WesternAnimation/OhYeahCartoons'' shorts, Vicky is reduced to one after she keeps seeing [[MesACrowd multiple Timmys]].
** The Crimson Chin undergoes one of these, complete with thumb-sucking, [[NoticingTheFourthWall when Timmy reveals to him that he is a comic book character.]] It became so bad that an ''entire issue'' centered around him in that position. Luckily, Timmy helps him get better.
** As does Cosmo whenever someone mentions [[NoodleIncident Super]] [[TraumaButton Toilet]]. "So... much... ''clogging!''"
* ''WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy'': %%** Meg Griffin does this occasionally.
** In "Dial Meg For Murder" Peter is shown in this position after being raped by a bull.
** In "PTV", Stewie ends up in this position when Peter poops off a bridge and it lands on Lois' car while he's riding in it.
--->'''Stewie:''' Turn off the windshield wipers. They don't work, they're just making it worse.
** In "Stewie Loves Lois", when Stewie takes [[CompanionCube Rupert]] to the park, he gets stolen by a dog. When Lois gets Rupert back, it's shown that Stewie has gone into this.
* On an episode of ''WesternAnimation/{{Gargoyles}}'', Goliath was fooled by a hologram of Angela taking this position.
* In the ''WesternAnimation/GlitchTechs'' episode, ''Castle Crawl'', Miko assumes this position while freaking out over the fact that [[spoiler: she never actually beat Castlestein and fearing that her lack of knowledge on how to proceed means that she and Five are stuck in the Mapper Glitch forever]].
* 2D of Music/{{Gorillaz}} has been huddled like this in his room at Plastic Beach for several months, in terror of the [[WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes whale]] outside his window.
* ''WesternAnimation/GravityFalls:'' Mabel assumes this position inside her sweater after being pressured into dating Gideon too many times.
-->'''Mabel:''' Mabel's not here. She's in sweater town.
** She does it again in "The Bottomless Pit"; specifically in the part entitled "Truth Ache," where Stan, under the influence of Truth Teeth, speaks a very depressing life philosophy about how "we're all just biding our time waiting for the sweet, sweet release of death."
** Thompson goes into this position a few times as well; once while [[ItMakesSenseInContext trapped in a video game]] in "The Inconveniencing", and again while getting ready for another year of high school in "Dipper and Mabel vs. The Future".
-->'''Thompson:''' Can't do it! ''Can't do another year!''
* In the ''WesternAnimation/HeyArnold'' episode "Das Subway", after the subway train breaks down, the conductor eventually confesses over the train's intercom system that he's curled up in the fetal position under the console.
* PlayedForLaughs in the ''WesternAnimation/{{Jellystone}}'' episode "[[Recap/JellystoneS1E10AFishStickySituationATownVideoWelcomeToJellystone A Town Video: Welcome to Jellystone]]" when Huckleberry Hound calmly curls up into a ball and casually mentions that he's having a meltdown.
* ''WesternAnimation/JusticeLeague'':
** In "[[Recap/JusticeLeagueS2E5And6OnlyADream Only a Dream]]", when Franchise/TheFlash thinks he's going to be alone in a [[TimeStandsStill time-stuck world]] forever, he buries his face in his knees and wraps his arms around his legs.
** From the same episode, Superman curls up in his rocket and hides his eyes after his [[PowerIncontinence out-of-control]] superpowers kill ComicBook/LoisLane, Perry White, and ComicBook/JimmyOlsen.
** In "[[Recap/JusticeLeagueUnlimitedS1E13TimeWarped The Once and Future Thing Part Two: Time, Warped]]", the heroes find Chronos curled up sucking his thumb, revealing the [[SuperLoser frightened little man]] beneath the supervillain persona.
* Quack Quack from ''WesternAnimation/{{Kaeloo}}'' does this whenever somebody mentions the death of somebody's parents, since his own parents were killed when he was still in an egg.
** In Episode 17, Mr. Cat sits in fetal position after Kaeloo [[spoiler: [[ForcefulKiss forces a kiss on him]].]]
** In Episode 148, when Stumpy and Mr. Cat try to imagine what [[InterspeciesRomance Quack Quack and Eugly's]] PatchworkKids would look like, both of them panic, with Mr. Cat assuming fetal position.
* Occurs a few times throughout ''WesternAnimation/KimPossible'', such as Drakken assuming this position when Shego freaks out in the lair from [[EmotionBomb the Moodulator]] and when Ron locks himself in his panic room.
-->'''Drakken''': Uh... did I forget your birthday? Is that what this is about? Because... I'm scared... (''sucks thumb'')
* ''WesternAnimation/MaoMaoHeroesOfPureHeart:'' Scoops does this in the episode "[[Recap/MaoMaoS1E03NoShortcuts No Shortcuts]]" after the news story she worked all night on gets destroyed by a stray missile.
* ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'':
** Rainbow Dash is cocky and justifiably proud of her flying abilities, and wants to be sure everyone sees how awesome she is. In "Sonic Rainboom", she's reduced to shivering in a Troubled Fetal Position when she loses confidence and realises she's bitten off more than she can chew in building her performance in a major competition on a trick so difficult she almost certainly won't be able to repeat it, meaning she would fail spectacularly in front of everybody.
** In "Lesson Zero", Twilight Sparkle curls on a bench, but the way she strokes her tail at the same time is unexpectedly cute.
** In "For Whom The Sweetie Belle Toils", the final scene of Sweetie Belle's [[BadFuture nightmare]] shows a [[SanitySlippage completely insane]] Rarity rocking in this position in her [[OldDarkHouse darkened and dilapidated boutique]].
** In "Do Princesses Dream Of Magic Sheep?", Rainbow Dash gets hit again after the Tantabus turns her dream of [[NightmareFetishist beating up Changelings nonstop]] into [[SickeninglySweet a cutesy field with a pink sky and lullaby-singing sunflowers.]]
* ''WesternAnimation/TheOwlHouse'':
** In "[[Recap/TheOwlHouseS1E5Covention Covention]]", Eda asks Luz how she would respond to a fireball coming at her. Luz responds by pulling up her hood and curling into a ball. Eda realizes she probably should have taught Luz more spells.
** In "[[Recap/TheOwlHouseS2E18LabyrinthRunners Labyrinth Runners]]", [[spoiler:Hunter is confronted by a few Coven scouts, who tell him Belos has been worried sick, and has sent out a search party to look for him. When Gus pulls him into another room to get him away from the scouts, Hunter -- who knows Belos wants to ''kill'' him -- starts having a panic attack and curls up in a ball while hyperventilating.]]
* The ''WesternAnimation/PhineasAndFerb'' episode "Bully Bromance Breakup" sees Phineas doing this while being dragged up a mountain in a harness. (He went into HeroicBSOD mode because Baljeet put the kibosh on him and Ferb inventing anything to help them climb.)
* ''WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls1998'':
** Bubbles adopted this position in "Shut The Pup Up" after being apparently insulted by Talking Dog, all the while doing the MadnessMantra of "I'm not a chubby crybaby, I'm not a chubby crybaby..."
** Blossom does this in "The Mane Event" after everyone laughed at her TraumaticHaircut.
* ''WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls2016'': Blossom did this in "Painbow" when she wasn't the only one who got an A+ on a diorama.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Recess}}'': Miss Finster comes with a new type of playground punishment- the box, which is just a square painted on the blacktop. T.J. ends up having to get put in the box shortly after it's announced. At first he laughs at it, but it eventually breaks him. Ten minutes later, Miss Finster finds the poor boy in the fetal position singing "This Old Man".
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Rugrats}}'': Stu during his SanitySlippage moment in "Angelica Breaks A Leg".
* ''WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons'':
** Jokingly done in one episode where Homer writes a bad review for a restaurant and is ridiculed for it. To cope he is later seen sitting in the fetal position in the tub, looking on traumatized with wide eyes as he crazily scrubs at his skin repeating, "Still not clean, stink of failure still on me! Still not clean, Still not clean!"
** "Lisa's First Word'' had Bart getting really terrified of a scary clown bed and in the morning he is shown rocking back and forth in the fetal position saying "[[MadnessMantra Can't sleep, clown will eat me. Can't sleep, clown will eat me.]]" over and over.
** Bart was curled up in "Camp Krusty" when the kids were in a summer camp from hell: "Krusty is coming. Krusty is coming. Krusty is coming..."
** In the episode where Homer is publicly and wrongly accused of molesting their babysitter, he tries to watch TV in the Troubled Fetal Position. However, his [[YourTelevisionHatesYou television hates]] him.
** In one episode, Homer has to give a speech in the nuclear power plant (Burns being among them) and is nervous, so Marge suggests imagining them naked. Homer freaks out, and Marge amends this to them wearing funny hats. This ends up being worse, and Homer rolls on the ground while holding himself in a troubled fetal position.
* ''WesternAnimation/SpongeBobSquarePants'':
** Played for laughs with Squidward in the episode "Band Geeks", after another screw-up by his slapdash marching band causes his flag twirlers to fly into a blimp and blow it up.
** Played for drama with Squidward in "Enchanted Tiki Dreams", where he's curled up under a chair inside his house, in a pool of tears, lamenting about how he can never catch a break. In fact, he seems to do this quite a bit. It's kind of adorable.
** Squidward does this again in "SB-129" when he becomes overwhelmed by time travel, curling up and then beginning to utter "''FUTURE!''" as he convulses on the floor. It takes [=SpongeTron=] dropping a brick on his head to snap him out of it.
** [=SpongeBob=] does this for a whole episode in which he becomes afraid to go outside, so he decides to live inside his house for the rest of his life. Thankfully, he got over it.
** One episode had Kevin the Sea Cucumber sits in a fetal position and cry for his mommy and blankie when attacked by a King Jellyfish. The other Jellyspotters join in shortly until [=SpongeBob=] saves them all.
** A random guy does this in "Sponge-Cano!" while everyone panics.
* [[KidHero Ezra Bridger]] from ''WesternAnimation/StarWarsRebels'' goes into this pose when he wakes up after tapping into TheDarkSide of the Force for the first time.
* [[spoiler:Peridot]] from ''WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse'' adopts this position a ''lot''. Especially after [[spoiler: being captured by the Crystal Gems]] in "Catch and Release", she spends a big portion of the episode curled up in a corner. Her most notable moment of this, however, is when she manages to ''accidentally'' [[spoiler:join the Crystal Gems]], having chewed out and insulted one of the highest-ranking people on the Gem Homeworld.
* ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitans2003'':
** Raven, to help cement her earlier status as a loner.
** Terra too, in mid-air, after losing control of her powers.
* ''WesternAnimation/TotalDrama'': Considering what the contestants go through, it's a surprise the troubled fetal position incidents are countable.
** In "[[Recap/TotalDramaPhobiaFactor Phobia Factor]]", Tyler has to stay inside a pen for three minutes with three chickens. Chickens are his worst fear and while he gets inside the pen, he immediately curls up and softly rocks himself to get through the stress.
** Heather doesn't care for the horror movie challenge in "[[Recap/TotalDramaHookLineAndScreamer Hook, Line and Screamer]]" and goes off to take a shower. Chef, in the role of serial killer, attacks her there and is frightening enough that all Heather can do upon arriving at the victim tent is to sit down, grab her knees, and rock herself back and forth without blinking.
** Owen, who has a history being afraid of flying, hugs his legs and rapidly rocks himself back and forth after he almost gets sucked through a hole out of the Total Drama Jumbo Jet to fall to his death in "[[Recap/TotalDramaSlapSlapRevolution Slap Slap Revolution]]".
** After learning that Cody tried to vote her off, Sierra starts "[[Recap/TotalDramaCantHelpFallingInLouvre Can't Help Falling in Louvre]]" by [[HeartbreakAndIceCream eating ice cream and crying]] while huddled in a fetal position that no one can get her out of until the plane crashes.
** In "[[Recap/TotalDramaIceIceBaby Ice Ice Baby]]", Dawn surmises that Scott is the way he is because he wasn't held enough as a child. In the confessional, Scott's curled up and his eyes are twitching as he concludes that Dawn with her creepy powers has become a priority elimination.
** In "[[Recap/TotalDramaFoodFright Food Fright]]", Courtney's time in the spinner is sabotaged by Mal turning off the safety lock. She spins way harder than she should and is launched out of the device. In the confessional, she holds herself while trembling and looking upwards, revealing that she (thinks she) has seen the future and shall never eat another slice of cake.
** In "[[Recap/TotalDramaYouRegattaBeKiddingMe You Regatta Be Kidding Me]]", Scott almost gets eaten by Fang, his [[AnimalNemesis mutant shark nemesis]]. In the confessional, Scott's curled up and processing his survival as he imparts the wisdom never to make enemies with a critter whose teeth outnumber those of one's whole family.
** In "[[Recap/TotalDramaZeekAndYeShallFind Zeek and Ye Shall Find]]", the taphophobic Gwen is stuck in a cave system with only Zoey as company. She hears the feral voice of Ezekiel in the distance and turns around for a second, only to find Zoey missing thereafter. In the confessional, she's lying down in the fetal position while making high-pitched stress noises. Moments later, Chef finally manages to get the camera system back online so he can see what Chris and the campers are going through inside the cave. Once he spots Chris suspended over acid, he mimics Gwen's fetal position.
** In "[[Recap/TotalDramaThisIsThePits This Is the Pits!]]", Jasmine goes into a squatting fetal position twice when dealing with her claustrophobia. One time, Chris mimics her position to mock her.
** In "[[Recap/TotalDramaScarlettFever Scarlett Fever]]", villain-wannabe Max assumes a fetal position while sucking his thumb when Scarlett reveals herself as evil incarnate.
* ''WesternAnimation/TotalDramaRama'': In "Royal Flush", Sewer Mike wants to hear what goes on in Beth's head despite Noah's and Duncan's warning. Later, as Beth ends her horrific rambling, Sewer Mike is left hugging his tail and rocking himself steadily.
* Wasp of ''WesternAnimation/TransformersAnimated'' is doing this after having escaped from the Autobot stockade where he'd been unjustly imprisoned for what is implied to be a century at least. Flashbacks show him to be a snarky JerkJock, his whole escape is done with style and flair (including a quick salute to his former drill instructor), and the episode ends with him hiding behind some wreckage, clutching his knees and rocking back and forth, muttering to himself, a broken shell of the 'bot he once was. Autobots are ''harsh.''
* Amalia from ''WesternAnimation/{{Wakfu}}'', especially in episode 25 when she feels the destruction of the forest by Nox's infernal machines.
* PlayedForLaughs in ''WesternAnimation/TheWeekenders'' when Tino has a fear of clowns. Whenever he’s confronted with one he curls up on his side in this position, and his friends are forced to roll him out of the situation. After this happens several times, Carver notices he’s getting better because he’s able to roll himself away.
* Pops up in an episode of ''WesternAnimation/XMenTheAnimatedSeries''. Morph, who'd just returned to the team after a lengthy absence following a near-death experience, learns the [[KillerRobot Sentinels]], which were responsible for said near-death experience are back, and has a PTSD-like freak out. While talking with [[TeamDad Professor Xavier]] about it later, they're attacked by Sentinels intent on kidnapping Xavier. Morph attempts to fight them off but freezes in fear allowing them to take the Professor. When the other X-Men arrive [[OddFriendship Wolverine]] finds him like this, [[TheWoobie crying]].
* On the ''WesternAnimation/YoungJustice2010'' episode "Home Front" Artemis, the least experienced member of the team, goes into this when the rest of her TrueCompanions have been captured and face imminent death.
