Context Trivia / XiaolinShowdown

Go To

* ActingForTwo: Taken as far as it could go since the series was voiced by incredibly well-recognized and prolific voice actors, as all four of the main character's voice actors - Creator/TomKenny, Creator/JeffBennett, Creator/TaraStrong, and Creator/GreyDeLisle - also voice multiple background characters and one-off villains. Even Creator/MauriceLaMarche gets in on the action. See the character page for details.
* ActorAllusion: Creator/JenniferHale playing a cat-like cat burglar.
* AllStarCast: The show has some of Western Animation's most famous voice acting names in it: Creator/TomKenny, Creator/JeffBennett, Creator/TaraStrong, Creator/GreyDeLisle, Creator/WayneKnight, Creator/DannyCooksey, Creator/MauriceLaMarche, Creator/JasonMarsden, Creator/JenniferHale, Creator/KevinMichaelRichardson, Creator/SusanSilo...
* CrossDressingVoices:
** Creator/TaraStrong as Omi. This is played straight for him in most languages. Except Italian, where Omi is played by Davide "Ash" Garbolino, Romanian, where he is voiced by Paul "WesternAnimation/Ben10" Zurbău, and Brazilian Portuguese, where he is voiced by Erick "Aang" Bougleux.
** Creator/JeffBennett also played Clay's sister, Jesse.
* FakeNationality: All of the main characters are voiced by white Americans; barring Clay (a white boy from Texas), none of the monks share their voice actors' race or nationality.
** Kimiko, voiced by Creator/GreyDelisle, is Japanese.
** Raimundo (Creator/TomKenny) is Brazilian.
** Omi (Creator/TaraStrong) and Master Fung (Creator/ReneAuberjonois and later Creator/MauriceLamarche) are Chinese.
* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: The series wasn't available anywhere for a long time after it aired, leaving fans to rely on TV rips if they wanted to watch the show. Though season 1 received a DVD release, seasons 2 and 3 did not, and it was nearly a decade before season 1 was added to iTunes in HD, with 2 and 3 later following. The effect of this can be seen in compilation videos on [=YouTube=], screenshots on the wiki, and gifs posted on sites like tumblr, that are all low-quality and have the Warner Bros logo in the corner.
* TheOtherDarrin: During the first season, Master Fung was voiced by Creator/ReneAuberjonois. Then in seasons 2 and 3, he was replaced by Creator/MauriceLaMarche.
** Dojo is voiced by Paul Rugg in the 2006 video game as opposed to Wayne Knight.
* PlayingAgainstType: Creator/JasonMarsden as Chase Young is usually cast as either heroes or at least anti-heroes. Chase is a rare example of him playing a straight-up villain, albeit a NobleDemon.
* RecastAsARegular: Creator/MauriceLaMarche guest starred a couple of times in Season 1 as Tubbimura and then took over as Master Fung in Seasons 2 and 3.
* ScrewedByTheNetwork: Cartoon Network Australia quietly cancelled showings of Xiaolin Showdown after Season 2 finished airing. Season 3 would not air in the country until 2009, four years later and on the channel Boomerang as well, meaning that Australian fans were left for that entire time thinking the show ended with Omi trapped working on the side of evil.
* ShoutOut: Hannibal Roy Bean is thought to be named after Hannibal Lecter from Literature/SilenceOfTheLambs, with him as a bean being a reference to a line in the book about Hannibal eating a with some fava beans.
** "Roy Bean" is additionally the name of an (in)famous Texas judge from the Old West, thus the Southern accent.
** In Venezuela, Omi and Wuya share a voice.
