!!The Film
* DawsonCasting: Creator/MichaelJFox plays 17-year-old Scott at age 23. Then again, that's just what he did in the 80s.
* FakeAmerican: Fox is Canadian.
* ReferencedBy: In making ''WesternAnimation/TurningRed'', director Domee Shi has stated that the teen transformation aspect was inspired by ''Teen Wolf''.
* SleeperHit: The film was created with the sole purpose of being quick and cheap to make, hoping to imitate the success of the recent SleeperHit ''Film/ValleyGirl'' (by the same company, Atlantic Releasing). Fox took the role simply because he could fit the brief shoot into a break in his ''Series/FamilyTies'' schedule. The film cost about $1.2 million and grossed $80 million, spawning a cash-in sequel, a [[Series/TeenWolf television series]] and a DistaffCounterpart film ''Film/TeenWitch'' .

* ActingForTwo:
** Creator/ArdenCho plays both Kira Yukimura and [[TimeshiftedActor her mother Noshiko in flashbacks]].
** Creator/DylanOBrien pulls double duty as Stiles and the Nogitsune, when they are presented as separate entities.
** Aaron Hendry plays the Nogitsune, or rather one particular nightmarish variety of him, and Brunski, one of Eichen House's orderlies.
** Creator/CrystalReed played Allison Argent for three seasons, and returned for one episode as the first Hunter and the original Argent matriarch, Marie-Jeanne Valet.
* CharacterAgedWithTheActor: The movie's TimeSkip accommodates the fact it's been over a decade since the series began.
* TheDanza: Creator/MelissaPonzio as Melissa [=McCall=].
* DawsonCasting: Although not as egregious as the main cast of some other shows set in high school, the only actor in the main cast who portrayed a character his own age in the beginning was Creator/TylerHoechlin, who was 23 when he started as Derek. It's only gotten worse, as the show advances only about a quarter as fast as real life. At the time they first started portraying 16- and 17-year-olds, the actors were:
** 18: Gage Golightly (Erica), the only one who was of normal high school age at the time of filming.
** 19: Creator/TylerPosey (Scott), Dylan O'Brien (Stiles)
** 22: Creator/ColtonHaynes (Jackson), Stephen Lunsford (Matt)
** 24: Holland Roden (Lydia), Keahu Kahuanui (Danny), Charlie and Max Carver (Ethan and Aiden)
** 25: Daniel Sharman (Isaac)
** 26: Crystal Reed (Allison), Sinqua Walls (Boyd), Shelley Hennig (Malia)
** 28: Arden Cho (Kira)
** Dylan Sprayberry (Liam) is (besides Season 2's Erica) the only exception then, or if an example a very downplayed one; despite being possibly the most [[OlderThanTheyLook muscular]] of all of the main cast, Sprayberry was 16 when he got the part of 15 year old Liam and was 19 when the show concluded.
* DirectedByCastMember: Creator/TylerPosey (Scott) directed season 6 episode "After Images".
* DoItYourselfThemeTune: The movie's end credits song "Lemon" is sung by Tyler Posey (Scott).
* FakeAmerican: Daniel Sharman, who plays Isaac, is British, while Creator/JRBourne, who plays Chris Argent, is Canadian.
* FakeNationality: Downplayed: Korean American Arden Cho plays Korean-Japanese American Kira Yukimura.
* PlayingAgainstType: In an interesting variant, it's the fact that Creator/DougJones ''never'' dons any prosthetics during his appearance as Barrow. Which is pretty shocking considering not only his penchant for doing so in other works and the prevalence of such effects on this show.
* ProducedByCastMember:
** Tyler Posey (Scott) was a producer for season 5 and 6.
** Tyler Posey and Tyler Hoechlin produced the continuation movie.
* [[ChannelHop Production Company Hop]]: The original film was produced by the defunct Atlantic Releasing Corporation. The series is produced by Creator/{{MGM}}, which acquired the rights to the AR library alongside a whole bunch of other defunct film company libraries in the late 1990s.
* QueerCharacterQueerActor:
** The gay Creator/ColtonHaynes as the bisexual Jackson.
** Creator/CharlieCarver as Ethan (both gay).
** Creator/ZeldaWilliams as Caitlin (both bisexual).
** Michael Johnston who plays the gay chimera Corey came out in 2023.
* RealLifeRelative:
** Creator/LindenAshby, who plays Sheriff Stilinski, is married to Creator/SusanWalters, who plays Lydia's mother Natalie.
** Dr. Fenris is played by John Posey, Tyler Posey's father. John Posey had also played another doctor on Teen Wolf in Season 1.
** Dylan Sprayberry's sister Ellery Sprayberry played Tierney in the episode "Pressure Test"
* RomanceOnTheSet:
** Lydia actress Holland Roden dated Creator/MaxCarver, who played her onscreen love-interest Aiden.
** Crystal Reed (Allison) and Daniel Sharman (Isaac) were also romantically involved, but have since broken up.
** Dylan Sprayberry (Liam) and Samantha Logan (Violet) dated as well.
* SpoiledByTheCastList: for the movie
** Crystal Reed
** Adam Fristoe if you remember he plays [[spoiler: Harris]]
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** Before Crystal Reed decided to leave the series, [[https://hiddenremote.com/2016/01/04/nycc-qa-jeff-davis-talks-teen-wolf-season-5b-end-game-return-of-the-argents-more/ the Allison/Scott pairing was intended to be endgame.]]
** Throughout Season Two, there were hints Boyd and Erica were going to end up in a romantic relationship. In the penultimate episode, they had IntertwinedFingers several times, ran away together, Erica [[IWillOnlySlowYouDown ordered Boyd to save himself when she was shot]], and he ran but quickly reappeared and bodily shielded her. Based on interviews, it was going to be a case of SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl where Boyd loved to listen to her and she'd ask him to the prom.
** Kira was originally intented to remain on the show for its final season with Arden Cho saying at one point that she was looking forward to return before either MTV or Jeff Davis decided to write her out from the show, which given the fan backlash on how she departed and how she was [[TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter a character who had good potential but was wasted on the show]], is partly why she was the one of the notable characters who didn't come BackForTheFinale like Derek and Jackson and got a near-ChuckCunninghamSyndrome treatment as she was mentioned once in the final season.
** Before Colton Haynes’ departure, Jackson was originally going to have a larger role in the show’s first part of the third season. Jackson would discover that one of the members of the Alpha Pack is responsible for the murder of his biological parents, prompting him to pursue his goal of killing them to avenge his parents' death. What role Jackson would have played in the second part is unknown, as Haynes left the show due to CreativeDifferences between him and the producers of show.
** Dylan O'Brien and Arden Cho were set to reprise their respective roles as Stiles and Kira in the Paramount+ film but it never materialised due to contract negotations between O'Brien and the producers breaking down and Cho realising that she would get paid less than some of her co-stars.
* WordOfGod: Although it's never been specified in-show how Scott and Stiles became friends, Tyler Posey (Scott) and Dylan O'Brien (Stiles) have said that they met in the sandbox when they were four, Stiles peed on Scott's sandcastle and that was that. O'Brien also uses this to explain their OnlyFriend problem: From then on they just decided there was no need to hang out with other people.
