* ActingForTwo: Between the several role reprises across different franchises for a crossover game, this was inevitable. There are some gags based around these casting decisions in the game itself as well.
** Mariko Suzuki once again plays double duty as KOS-MOS and T-elos in both games.
** Creator/NobuyukiHiyama voices Demitri Maximoff, Haken Browning, Batsu Ichimonji, and Stehoney in the first game, with him adding Pyron in the sequel.
** Creator/NorioWakamoto plays Cardinal Garigliano, M. Bison, and Metal Face in ''2''.
** Creator/TomokazuSugita voices both Axel Stone and Chrom in ''2''.
* AllStarCast: Given the large cast, many well-known veteran voice actors provide voice work for characters in both games.
* BadExportForYou: Apparently, even instrumental versions of certain songs have to be licensed separately from the game. As such, the American version has a number of {{Cut Song}}s, including [[VideoGame/ShiningForceEXA World's Love]], [[VideoGame/GodEater1 Over The Clouds]], [[VideoGame/ValkyriaChroniclesIII If You Wish For...]], [[VideoGame/TalesOfVesperia Ring a Bell]], [[VideoGame/SpaceChannel5 Mexican Flyer]], HIGH-RISE TO HELL (from ''[[VideoGame/DynamiteCop Dynamite Deka/Die Hard Arcade]]''), [[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsOriginalGeneration ROCKS]], and the vocal version of the game's main theme, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CwJ0moEahfc Wing Wanderer]]. The sequel, however, has no cut content.
* DevelopmentGag: A Servbot is upset at Tron's rocket project to save her Mega Man being delayed, possibly referencing ''Legends 3'' (which would have at least partially involved building said rocket) getting cancelled.
** The subtitle of the second game ''"Brave New World"'' becomes this over one of the themes, the theme song of ''Namco X Capcom''... '''''also''''' is called ''"Brave New World"''
* DuelingGames: ''Brave New World'' did this with ''VideoGame/FireEmblemFates'' in North America, as both are strategy RPGS on the 3DS releasing in the same week. Funny considering that:
** A: Their previous titles, ''VideoGame/FireEmblemAwakening'' and the first ''Project X Zone'' were released within months of each other. As detailed on the YMMV page, one Western reviewer made unfavorable comparisons between the two games, to the detriment of the latter[[note]] to the point where people called the review unfair because of this[[/note]]
** B: Chrom and Lucina are present in both games.
* MarthDebutedInSmashBros:
** The ''VideoGame/ValkyriaChroniclesIII'' protagonists fall into this trope. Selvaria Bles does not, having debuted in the [[VideoGame/ValkyriaChronicles first game]].
** Although only the fifth ''VideoGame/SakuraWars'' game was released in America, we did get TheAnimeOfTheGame, several {{OVA}}s, TheMovie, and part of [[ComicBookAdaptation a manga adaptation]]. As such, the only ''Sakura Wars'' characters to fall under this trope are Ciseaux and Aya-me.[[note]] Specifically her kouma self, she appeared as her original human self in the anime. [[/note]]
** For the second game, Ciel Alencon and Nana Kazuki of ''VideoGame/GodEater2'' count as that game was released worldwide after ''Project X Zone 2''.
* MilestoneCelebration: ''Project X Zone 2'' serves as the 10th anniversary of ''VideoGame/NamcoXCapcom''. Fittingly enough, ''2'' has Reiji and Xiaomu as the main heroes again, Saya as one of the primary antagonists, as well as introducing other members of Shinra and Ouma. In fact, the game's subtitle, ''Brave New World'', shares the same name as ''Namco X Capcom's'' main theme.
* NoDubForYou: While the games were able to be officially released and translated to the west, neither game was given an English voice dub. Understandably due to the various franchises that were dubbed under different studios.
* NoExportForYou:
** There's a humorous reference to one case in the sequel (and likely only in the localization) from the VideoGame/TalesOfVesperia pair. Whose [=PS3=] rerelease would only be localized in 2018.
--->''Yuri'': Let's call for our own friends too. Repede, and Rita, and Judy.\
''Flynn'': And let's not forget Captain Schwann and... what's-her-name. Was there a pirate girl?
** The ''Brave New World's'' Original Game Sound Edition, a soundtrack that has the original songs intact from the various games, was not released outside of Japan due to copyright.
* PromotedFanboy: According to the Tokyo Game Show, Creator/TomokazuSugita used to play ''VideoGame/NamcoXCapcom'' and even references how [[GameBreaker broken]] Guy and Shou were in that game with the Smoke Bomb technique and was happy that two of the characters he voiced, [[VideoGame/FireEmblemAwakening Chrom]] and [[VideoGame/StreetsOfRage Axel Stone]], got in.
* TheOtherDarrin:
** Xiaoyu is using her ''[[Anime/TekkenBloodVengeance Blood Vengeance]]'' [[Creator/MaayaSakamoto voice]] than [[Creator/YumiTouma the original one]]. To be fair though, Sakamoto does Xiaoyu's voice for ''Tekken Tag Tournament 2'' as well.
** Creator/AiOrikasa voices Tarosuke in the second game instead of Creator/FujikoTakimoto in ''Videogame/NamcoXCapcom''.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** When asked by a fan (and later by Creator/TetsuInada, who does voice [[VideoGame/GhostsNGoblins Arthur]] in this game) why [[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsOriginalGeneration Ratsel Feinschmecker]] isn't in the game, according to [[VideoGame/SuperRobotWars Takanobu Terada]], [[Characters/CompatiHeroSeries Gilliam Yeager]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTfD09J3jXM&t=58m10s was supposed to be included in the game.]]
** [[http://www.spriters-resource.com/3ds/projectxzone/sheet/62483/ According to this sheet]], [[VideoGame/GodEater Sakuya Tachibana]] was probably supposed to be in this game.
** [[https://twitter.com/PG_kamiya/status/700548878207049729 According to some tweets]] by Creator/HidekiKamiya, {{VideoGame/Bayonetta}} was proposed, but Kamiya vetoed the idea because he wanted to be the one to make the game where [[VideoGame/DevilMayCry Dante]] and Bayonetta appear together. That said, [[OldShame he has since come to regret making that decision]] and is open to Bayonetta appearing in a prospective third game.
** Concept art for [[BigGood Mii]] had her with shorter hair.
** Phoenix Wright and Maya Fey were originally a pair unit in the second game, but the team had trouble coming up with enough moves for Maya, so they became a solo unit instead.
