* AdoredByTheNetwork: Creator/{{Freeform}} (at least when they were ABC Family) ''loves'' to whip this movie out whenever they can.
* DawsonCasting: Creator/ThomasBrodieSangster was ''fifteen'' when the movie was released, though he convincingly plays the part of a child young enough to need a nanny.
* FakeBrit: Maggie Gyllenhall proudly takes her place on the list of "American actors who can actually do a convincing English accent".
* InternationalCoproduction: Between American company Creator/{{Universal}} and British companies Working Title and Creator/StudioCanal. The sequel adds Japanese studio Creator/{{Toho}} as one of the production companies.
* MissingTrailerScene: Some of the trailers for the sequel film included quite a bit of material that didn't make into the final cut of the film, though some of it was included in deleted scenes.
* RenamedToAvoidAssociation: The books named the titular character "Nurse Matilda". To avoid confusion with ''Film/{{Matilda}}'', also a magic-user, the character underwent an AdaptationNameChange to "Nanny [=McPhee=]" for the movies.
* ThoseTwoActors:
** Creator/EmmaThompson, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, and Creator/ColinFirth had all previously been in ''Film/LoveActually'', though none of them actually shared scenes.
** Emma Thompson and Creator/ImeldaStaunton had previously appeared together in Thompson's 1988 comedy show, ''Film/SenseAndSensibility'' and ''Film/MuchAdoAboutNothing1993''. They have gone on to collaborate [[Film/HarryPotter many times more]].
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** On the commentary, it's mentioned that in the kitchen disaster scene, the baby originally was supposed to end up in the pot and bounce around as it got hotter and hotter. They scrapped that when they realized that would be a little ''too'' disturbing, and the final scene has the disaster averted just as Aggie is launched toward the pot.
** A third film was reportedly planned, but since the sequel didn't quite rake in as much money as the first, this appears to have been scrapped for now.
* WrittenByCastMember: Both films' screenplays were written by Emma Thompson, who played Nanny [=McPhee=].
